Man Sentenced In Arson Fraud
By Dana Willhoit
The Ledger
On July 25, 2005, the mobile home of two Lakeland men was destroyed by arson, and at the time the story grabbed national headlines because it was thought to be a hate crime. The two men are gay, and they told police that people in the mobile home park had yelled insults at them and threatened them.
Now, Michael Robertson, one of the two men who lived there, is facing sentencing in the case.
Robertson, 24, told police that someone had spray-painted a profane reference to homosexuality on their steps, and that someone had broken into their mobile home at Kings Manor Mobile Home Park and stolen a television set, a laptop computer and other items.
Robertson later admitted to setting the fire himself to collect insurance money and because he wanted to convince his partner to move out of the mobile home park.
He told investigators that the items he had reported stolen in the burglary were actually in storage.
He pleaded guilty on Nov. 3 to grand theft, false and fraudulent insurance claim, arson, burning to defraud and fraudulent use of personal identification information.
His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 18.

All arson cases should have the added charge of "endangering the lives of firefighters".
OH MY!!!!!!
I guess he really is a "flamer."
What a creep.
I saw a plot just like this on some TV show. First the TV shows stole from the headlines, now the silly criminals are stealing from the shows.
LOL!
Once he gets to the slammer, he will soon learn the difference between a HATE CRIME and a LOVE CRIME!
