"Whatever, Skippy. You negative know-it-alls bore me to tears."

I read it. And he wrote a reasoned and researched reply. For whatever reason you have a problem with this, please remember the words of the Bard.

"Methinks the lady doth protest too much." William Shakespeare: "The Taming of the Shrew."

If this reply doesn't fit your rules, let me express my deep disdain.

You made a lame comment you couldn't defend. Then you accused others of jumping on you for calling you on it. I say it again:

You aligned yourself with the radio host by suggesting "ignorant bigots" are a problem here for Muslims. I and others here didn't misconstrue you on this.

So name the incidents and problems they're experiencing.

Allow me express my feelings about yours and all the other cut-and-run-sleeper-troll-condescending-rude-obnoxious-do-nothing-but-yap-bigoted people on here's "deep disdain" (what-are you channeling freakin' Daschle here???):

Oh...and this one's for you, too: READ the question I was answering before you climb up onto your bully pulpit.

Yeah, that's right. Go back and read it.

Merry Christmas to all of you malcontents.

I was kidding, Paige.

I have several much-loved relatives living in or near big cities, especially Chicago.

"I can't believe any of you are sick enough to have agreed for one second with anything I said,"

I can't believe Klein is stupid enough to have totally misread the sentiments that run deep within many Americans these days.

Or did he? If he was that stupid, why did he ask the question in the first place. He knew what he was doing and exactly what kind of response he would get.

This tells me that he either was intent upon insulting his listeners and wanted to make sure fewer people tuned in to his show in the future...
Or he said it was a hoax to cover his ass.

AFAIK, there were no camps for Germans or Italians in America.

The Aleutian Islands are one heck of a long way from San Diego. BTW, the Japanese built several gigantic submarines that could launch bombers carrying nuclear warheads. They really didn't need to secure a beachhead in the US

For a one-shot bomber strike jumping off from the Aleutian Islands, they don't need a beachhead.

They just need one agent with a truckload of fuel who can show up at some little-used road in Canada that the planes can land, refuel, and take off from

Some years ago there were people who discounted that the Russian Backfire bomber could not be used for attacks on the US because it didn't have enough round-trip range. I kept answering that they didn't need round-trip range. It wasn't like there was any likelyhood of them getting back out and doing another mission. All they needed to do was drop their nukes, fly to some deserted spot, eject, put on civilian clothes, and hang loose for a while to wait for developments

Ignoring the problem of supply lines, there are millions of armed Americans between the invader and Washington.

Famous quotes from Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto

"In the first six to twelve months of a war with the United States and Great Britain I will run wild and win victory upon victory. But then, if the war continues after that, I have no expectation of success."

"You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass."

"I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." [upon learning of the success of the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor]

We have a bunch of Moslem boys from our neighborhood out proving themselves on the battlefield this very day. The Army and Marines are making considerable use of their knowledge of Arabic as well.

They learn that in weekend schools for the purpose of reading the Koran.

You'll never hear about it of course.

I think you misunderstand the entire thrust of that particular conversation. The claim was that folks in the US feared a Japanese invasion of the West Coast.

I laughed at their claim. It was as logical to imagine the Japanese landing in Washington DC.

To a degree you support my thoughts.

Vast numbers of Germans were held in camps by Germany itself. They usually ended up dead too!

Hmm. You made a statement. I countered that statement with facts that support my position. You called me a dimwit, suggested I'm a complaining, condescending do-nothing and flounced out of the virtual room in a huff. Yup, I'm definitely in the wrong here.

Stay safe :)

You called me a dimwit,

Where?

That's the whole trouble with this thread. It's drawing a lot of people who seem to have "issues." Putting words in my mouth is one tactic that seems unusually prevalent here. What is up with that??

Did I wander onto a CNN site? What's with all the hatred, anyway?

{{BIG SMOOCH}}} to you all!

The Jews were considered to be a threat by the Germans, as many of the leaders of Communism were ethnically Jewish. Such reasoning--because a few Jewish-descended people started Communism, all Jews are Communists--is crazy.

Not all Jews are/were communists. But all Muslims are, well, Muslims.

Where I come from, only dimwits get called Skippy, but if it'll make you happy, I'll concede that you didn't explicitly call me a dimwit. I'll assume that your other jibes still stand.

What's with all the hatred, anyway?

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. I don't believe I've expressed any hatred of any kind toward you. What I did do was make the mistake of commenting (in what I believe was a quite rational matter) on your post, thereby inviting a big old pile of vituperation. Misplaced, imho.

Have a nice night :)

Lurker, you are so right. Not all Germans/ Japanese supported their government, but we took on their entire country to stop the few. And it had to be done.

"Not all Muslims are evil" is just SO beside the point.

Minor point:

"I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." [upon learning of the success FAILURE of the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor]

The Pearl Harbor raid was a failure, in the same sense the 9/11 attack was a failure.

The Japanese failed to get our carriers, thereby failing their major mission goal.

The møøselimbs did even worse. They failed in all three of their goals:

Take down our ecconomy (WTC)
Disable our millitary (Pentagon)
Decapitate our government (Flt93)

There are reports that there were hijackers on several more flights who didn't even get a chance to play. We out manuvered them when we grounded all flights.

Even where they did manage to draw blood it was far less than they planned. The WTC attack was supposed to kill 50,000, for example.
