This is all about Estee Lauder and fears about their Christmas sales being affected.
Paltrow is the face of Estee Lauder and she appears in print ads and on large displays in cosmetic counters all across America.

Whatever, Gwynnie. Just stay over on your side of the pond (Madonna too) and leave us non-ex pat Americans alone.

"The Ditsy Chix, on the other hand..."Pride cometh before the fall, and a haughty spirit before destruction""

"Poor blind Alektruon. Now he knows the magnitude of his error. Arrogance laid him low, for no man is invincible. Those the gods would destroy they first make proud.”

"Spence School in New York City"

I heard this is a ultra-liberal indoctrination center for rich NYC kids.

"I propose a new rule: no boycotts of actresses who are hot.

Anyone with me on this?"

I'll back you if Kiera Knightley can be allowed into this protected group.
I know, I know...she's young and I'm old......I don't care, I can't help myself.
Call it a war injury.

"I was against America before I was for it"...- hollywood code for "my career is on a downward trend".

She is a very confused citizen of whatever and she might do well to stop talking about this issue because it seems when she does, someone manages to put Gwynnie's foot in Gwynnie's mouth.

I don't know who Kiera Knightley is, but okay.

There really aren't a lot of talented young actresses out there these days. They need to be in a protected class.

Gwyneth Paltrow is now claiming she is 'proud to be an American'?

As if America really cares if some B-list airhead actress like Gwyneth Paltrow is patriotic - or not. Since her previous comments have been less than complimentary toward her native land, we can assume this recent CYA attempt (Paltrow professing to really love America) was simply a press agents afterthought to 'fix' yet another elitist comment from a millionaire Anglophile client who has no appreciation or respect for the land that helped make her rich and semi-famous. Just another day in paradise, I guess.

Tell you what: stay in oh-so civilized England, Gwyneth, and see how the coming Islamic government treats you and your pathetic pretensions to superiority.

Bingo.

Whenever a celeb backpedals, it's because their PR/handlers are in damage control mode.

I am a New York girl, that's how I always think of myself and see myself."

I can see how she could have made that statement now....

Inquiring minds want to know:

When will the lightly educated American "artist" community get a clue?

Regular Americans do not have to spend their hard earned dollars to see/support "artists" that are anti-American twits. I am just saying.

I take it she made the original remarks in Spanish. If that's the case, I will give her the benefit of the doubt as well, as she appears to be genuine in these remarks, and being precise in a second language is difficult.

That was a good movie, but the rest of the cast outdid Ms. Paltrow, especially Anne Bancroft, DeNiro and Chris Cooper.

I still like Paltrow and I'm a fan of her husband's band. If I had to agree with the politics of every entertainer, I wouldn't get to enjoy much entertainment.

"You can't have it both ways".

Sure we can. If you stand for something oh say, like YOUR COUNTRY or FAITH, you get to do just that. You might disagree with me and you get to say do, but I get to tell you what I think. It's and American thing.

You could look it up.

Christopher Hitchens likes Americans and America and he is a smart British leftie. So there, Gwyneth!

"This is what I said. I said that Europe is a much older culture and there's a difference. I always say in America, people live to work and in Europe, people work to live. There are positives in both,"

Sounds like someone hired a better PR troubleshooter than the Dixie Chicks did.

Did you reply to the wrong person? I don't see any defense of anyone at all in my post. :-)
