LOL. Great post. This woman invented vapid. She has the reputation in Hollywood of being without qualification the stupidest, shallowest woman in the business, which is a bit like a band of blind armadillos voting on which among them is most likely to get squashed by a car, I know. But, hey, if anybody should know from vapid, they sure should, so I'm inclined to accept their judgement on ol' Gwyneth.

That's kinda why I'm willing to give her a pass. Not defend her mind you, but give her a pass. She's incapable of being a left-winger or a right-winger or registering activity in any direction at all on the brainwave chart because both of her cerebral hemispheres have the disabled box checked.

We've only ever heard this woman's name because she's Bruce Paltrow & Blythe Danner's daughter & the legally recorded name on Hollywood's Articles of Incorporation is Nepotism Unlimited. Were she anybody else's child & said this stuff, folks would be saying "That's fine, honey, but that doesn't answer my question. I asked you why you gave me grape jelly instead of ketchup with my fries."

American Northeast Liberals aren't really Americans. They are offshoots of the European liberals and they are landing here in droves. Arizona used to be solidly red once but that's changing.

I agree. Better to at least backtrack than continue shoving that foot into your mouth!

"First of all I feel so lucky to be American. When you look at the rest of the world, we're so lucky, and that's something my dad always instilled in me," Paltrow tells PEOPLE. "I feel so proud to be American.""

I would say she gets the benefit of the doubt. It sounds like she gets it, based on the above statement.

Gwyneth has never lived in America unless you call theater folk and Hollywood 'America'

Why wouldn't you? Artists aren't Americans? Anyway, Paltrow is a fool she has no claim to anyone's attention.

It was called 'Sidney' everywhere but the U.S. where movies with a name in the title are considered commercial no-nos

Whether she said it or didn't say it doesn't matter because she talks clearly with her money.

Here is a former quote. She apparently thinks we should all just get over it.

"I find the English amazing how they got over 7/7.

"There were no multiple memorials with people sobbing as they would have been in America.

"There, they are constantly scaring people but at the same time, people think nothing of going to see a therapist."

Well, one things for sure, she's a couple of sigmas to the right of the Dixie Chicks on the Bell Curve.

Not saying much I suppose.

I dunno---this is the first time these types of remarks have been attributed to her.

I'm sorry...you're just clueless....

Do a simple FR search on "Gwyneth" and see what you come up with.

She's been spewing bile for years.

She slammed American medicine, said she wouldn't have her baby here...and when the time came to have her kid...she high-tailed it back to the ol' U-S-of-A.

"Decent" . . . well, yeah, a little stronger than "acceptable". I use it to mean "it's not to my taste, but there's nothing wrong with it, really."

"Debbie Does Dallas," now . . . un-decent. "Debbie Does Dishes" - and its sequel, "Blazing Mattresses" - hilarious!

I like Gwyneth fine but I think the comparisons to Grace Kelly are way, way overrated.

Reading her remarks over, it seems to me to be more in the line of poking fun at the U.S. (satire) than insulting all Americans. A sense of humor does not always translate into print.

That said, if she says something dumb after this, then that would be a statement on her integrity and meaning.

you bet it's damage control. She doesn't want to lose that
Estee Lauder contract. I don't believe her retraction.

Now she's backpedaling BECAUSE she fears it will affect her *WORK AND MONEY*. What else can you expect from someone whose role model is Madonna?

Those aren't her words, those are the words of her PR person.

My first thought on your post was wth are you talking about!

Then I reread my post and saw that I was not "clueless" but rather "not"-less. I intended to say "this is NOT the first time these type of remarks have been attributed to her."

My bad! Very bad!

I am well aware of Gwennie's history. lol

Thanks.

I don't believe her retraction.

Neither do I. It was only after several days of controversy that her publicist finally told her to issue an "apology". She's made these types of comments in the past. She meant what she said. I, for one, do not accept her apology. She can stay in Britain and never come back.

I wish her and Madonna and Sean and the rest would give up their US citizenship.
