But the only way they do that is if we convince ourselves, despite all facts and logic, that we've "lost". So, let's not.
I'm not sure what the political stragegy in all of this might be, but the theme for the Lame Duck GWB administration now seems to be "Send In the Clowns". :-/

Mr. Bartlett, we are not fools. Bush misunderestimated the enemy. He was convinced by Cold War sacred cows that we could fight radical Islam like we fought tinhorn communist dictators in Panama and Grenada.
This is a war against a religion that has sadly been stuck in the 12th century for far too long. The only solution is a political one. Islam must modernize and denounce violence and actually lay down their arms. They must recognize Israel, and Israel must recognize them. We will have to eat some humble pie as well. We'll do this if we wish to live in peace.
Have you been awake for the last 50 or so years? How long has Israel, along with many of the world's other nations, worked on a political solution with an Islamic country? How's that working out so far?
Political solution? There is no political solution to suicide bombs and sawn-off heads!

You sound precisely like a European pre-Dhimmi, willing to give up whatever it takes to achieve "peace". If by "peace" you only mean "absence of war", and if the price of that "peace" is more bombings, less liberty and eventual Sharia law, then give me war instead of that peace!
You obviously didn't read my entire post. Try again and come back when you can debate on at least a college level.
In truth, I did read your entire post. And, I have debated at the college level, and have done reasonably well at it too.
If you're telling me that post was sarcasm, then I probably just haven't had enough sleep lately. :-/
