Ping for
Tom the Redhunter's report on last Friday's Walter Reed Support Our Troops Freep #85.
Tom is correct - the temps started out warm, but dropped like a rock. Our noses might have been cold, but our hearts were warmed by the troops who came out to talk to us and thank us for caring about them. God Love 'em. They volunteer to defend and protect complete strangers; how could we not be here every Friday to remind them that we love them and appreciate their service and sacrifice.
Please join us if you are in the area. It's wintertime here in DC, but our Freeps will continue.
Thanks, Tom, for the great report. I think having a rolling team of report-writers is a good idea. Thanks to all on that "team," too!

Great report and thanks to the FReeper Warriors who always do a great job at Walter Reed.
From your West Coast FReepers and Protest Warriors who do the same at Naval Medical Center, San Diego.

Rock on, SoCalPol. Thank you for keeping the faith on the West Coast.

There was also a guy in uniform who came out. He said he's a nurse at WR and he wanted to thank us and let us know how much all the guys appreciate it. I don't think he said what his name is.

TOM -
Great AAR - Thanks for taking the time to write it. The mini-MOAB was given to the Olney FReep this past spring by an Iraqi Vet. We proudly display it there also. As you say, the great thing is, it is all weather.
The pic you reference me in with the mini-MOAB, is myself and BufordP setting it up. Buford is behind and holding the other end of the banner, also in short sleeves. Usually it is a one FReeper job, but the wind was so bad, it took two FReepers this night.
PLEA DEAL - Great pics and thanks for doing double duty last Friday.

TTR -G reat report. I had to vamoose as I was not prepared for the temperature drop. I'm still fighting off a cold that is lingering on and on.
To: Tom the Redhunter

I must confess, since I'm usually there, I breeze through the AARs. Unless you write them. ... Then I don't read them at all.
JUST KIDDING!
GREAT REPORT!

Thanks for great write up & pix Tom. Nice that you can rotate the posting & each of you brings a unique flavor of wit & humor to the offering.
LW there will be a gal from Cleveland & a guy from Chicago sharing the honors with you all to support the troops!
Please order some good weather for us?

Outstanding report Tom. You are so right...the troops come out to thank us, but the BLESSING IS ALL OURS.
I can't believe it sometimes, they ARE doing the hard work, and then they thank us for being there. I know it's hard to fight without support so maybe that's why they thanks us...just for the support.
Anyone who lives in the area, and doesn't go to the Walter Reed FReep at least ONCE has no idea what they are missing. You never know who you'll meet, or where they'll be from, but the bottom line is...it's an experience you'll not soon forget. If nothing else, you'll spend an evening talking with some very patriotic FReepers. There ARE worse ways to spend an evening.

Hey all! I hate being at the mercy of my wife with her car. I got there five minutes before the bus arrived, so I guess that does not qualify as being at the Freep.
My bike is now in the shop, and I plan on riding it through the winter, as long as there is no ice on the streets...as soon as it gets fixed.
