"Don't be shocked if the House refuses to seat Vern Buchanan in January."

This HAS happened before. A congressional seat in Indiana in 1984 was stolen from the GOP in this manner.

Do a search for "Indiana Bloody 8 (or Eight) 1984". It tells the story better than I can here.

See my post #21. The Indiana case from 1984 comes to mind.

Don't be shocked if the House refuses to seat Vern Buchanan in January.

At this very moment in time, I predict a civil war would erupt.

A geniune, shooting civil war, right here in America.

Actually, all of the problems have been coming from those parts of Florida that are filled with idiot libs from up north.

MAN this makes me so mad! Undervotes. Divining the voters "intent". Undervotes happen because people don't want to vote in certain races! Jennings is angry because her cronies didn't do a good enough job of FRAUD.

Here in WA state, the dems pulled it off. They lied and cheated and kept "finding" votes until they had enough to take the Governor's mansion. The "voice of the people" is only important when liberals get their way.

I've noticed several postings here since the elections which showed the Reps winning a few election recounts or challenges.

Did any of them change the final tally in the House or were they all predicted when the votes were called?

Exactly- If she is going to attempt to STEAL this election- then NO WAY should she be someone the people can trust. The machines were certified 4 times and the votes were recounted 3 times! This is NOTHING but an attempt to steal the elections! Just like they tried to do last elections! CHARGE her for all the time and money spend 'investigating' NOTHING! http://sacredscoop.com

That's probably the case I was thinking about--had read about it but didn't remember exactly when it was. Indiana sounds right.

This is the new Democrat m.o. introduced in '00 by Al Gore and other Democrats. If you lose at the ballot box, recount or go to court until you win.

In this effort they are aided and abetted by their propaganda arm, the main stream media.

Christine Jennings has shown by her actions--failure to concede, seeking to have courts overturn the election, and I'm sure by now she is asking Nancy Pelosi to seat her rather than the certified winner, Vern Buchanan--that she does not represent the interests of Florida District 13. She is a puppet of MoveOn, George Soros, Emily's List and other liberal interests from outside District 13. They bankrolled her campaign and now are bankrolling her court challenges. If Pelosi would be so foolish as to seat Jennings in Buchanan's seat, the Democrats would reap a very bitter harvest.

No, this is part of their new m.o. They are adding the court system and media agitation to their tactics. They intend to win at any cost.

The Republicans have actually won most of the 'too-close-to-call' races since Election Day. For instance, North Carolina's Robin Hayes, who won by about 330 votes or so, has officially won, as has Dave Reichert (WA-08), Heather Wilson (NM-01), Barbara Cubin (WY-01) and Jean Schmidt (OH-02). It also appears very likely that Deborah Pryce will prevail in OH-15.

The GOP did win an unexpected victory in the Montana House of Representatives, where they will rule with a coalition majority of 51-49. Other than that, there haven't been too many surprises.

I don't know about a civil war, but I wouldn't be surprised if it would cause huge consternation in the US House of Representatives. What a way for the Democrats to start their 'bipartisan' rule by doing something so flagrantly unconstitutional and partisanly explosive as refusing to seat a certified winner. If Pelosi does this (and it has no effect on who controls the House), she should be prepared for the consequences.

What consequences? That the Republicans learn that they better sit down and shut up like they did when it happened in '84? That the public pays no attention to whatever little bit of press is given to a typical power grab by the Democrats? Absolutely NOTHING will happen when and if they refuse to seat the Republican and instead seat the Democrat. It will merit some mention on conservative talk radio for a day or two, but you all should get ready for talk radio as we've known it since Rush started his show to vanish shortly after January anyway. And the "fairness doctrine" will pass with a bi-partisan vote in both Houses and the President will sign it, getting rid of something they consider "very divisive."

I'm not so sure. It would be another misstep and a dangerous thing for the Dems to do. In 1984, the Dems had controlled things for so long that nobody really cared. People really care now. I have to respectfully disagree. It wouldn't cause the political process to end, but it would spark lots of acrimony.

Thanks for the ping. Our local rag is working as hard as they can to prove that the vast majority of undervote came from people who voted straight dem on the other races and, therefore, missed the congressional race because of a poorly designed ballot or computer malfunctions. They won't report though that the ballot design was approved by both candidates prior to the election.

They admit that some of the undervote came from people who didn't choose to vote in the congressional race. However, they claim that thousands of people were disenfranchised by the ballot design or by computer problems and therefore should be able to have their votes count. They have even gone so far as to suggest that the Supervisor of Elections should award the vote to Jennings if the undervote voted in favor of democrats for other races. Unbelievable.

Below is an editorial of the Observer newspapers of the Sarasota area. While this editorial is from several weeks ago, it continues to be timely and is an important perspective that needs to be better disseminated in Sarasota County.

Opinion
our view
Undervote is no mystery

It's increasingly clear that we can conclude the media circus and travesty we are being subjected to over the results of the District 13 congressional election are all part of the National Democratic Party strategy: If it's close, challenge, bellyache, complain, go to court, demand recounts, etc. And ride the daily media wave; the publicity will help the cause.

None of this is surprising, especially after what we witnessed and heard last week at the polls. To wit: When voters exited the polls at Longboat Key Town Hall, many were approached by Christine Jennings/Democratic Party campaigners and asked whether they had trouble with the voting system. As far as we know, none of the Republican campaigners did the same.

Why would they ask the question - unless they were instructed to do so for a purpose? Yes, pre- Election-Day news stories suggested some voter confusion. But deliberately questioning voters at the polls says there was a concerted effort to dig for ammunition for an expected legal challenge.

But here's the reality: There's no mystery or chicanery to the undervote. The answer is quite simple. People didn't vote because they didn't approve of either candidate.

Be reasonable and logical about this: When voters go into the polls, the vast majority of them are walking into the voting booth with a mission. They have made up their minds, they know their choices and they are going to be careful and earnest about making sure they cast the right vote. People take this privilege seriously and act accordingly.

What's more, in Sarasota County's touchscreen system, once voters have completed their balloting, they are given a screen that instructs them to review their choices. You have to be an idiot not to see or understand this. We seriously doubt the 18,000 who didn't vote in the District 13 race qualify as idiots.

. To Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent: Stay the course. You have nothing for which to apologize. Once a voter enters that voting booth, the outcome is his responsibility.

. To Christine Jennings: It's over. Sure, go through the recount, but do it with dignity. End the spectacle. Call off the Kendall Coffey/Democratic Party attack dogs and the divisive litigation. Save your honor and reputation while you can.
