This is outrageous. I just don't get it.

First, the Administration floats the trial balloon (lead balloon, actually) of higher Social Security taxes via lifting the income ceiling.

Then they float the George Mitchell/UN rumor (another lead balloon).

And now this? What the heck is going on?

Heck, I'd rather have a 'lame duck' administration if THIS is the alternative!! Geeeez.

the administration didn't "float" this - this is what Baker and the committee came up with, its not an administration proposal.

The Administration didn't float any trial balloon (lead balloon, actually) of higher Social Security taxes via lifting the income ceiling. Al Hubbard was on Kudlow last night and said that the Democrats may wish to bring that to the table and Bush will flatly reject it, as he will with the other rumor about bringing the top 35% rate back to 39.6%.
