SS Handschar division was a Waffen-SS division recruited from Bosnian Muslims. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Husseini, a violent anti-Semite, endorsed the project and traveled to Sarajevo to personally bless the troops. They were mostly stationed in the Balkans and participated in several atrocities. They appear not to have had much of role in the deportation of Jews, however, only because most of the Jews of the region had already been transported to camps by the time they were deployed.
Husseini, incidentally, lived in the Third Reich for several years when he was under British exile orders. He personally met with Hitler and expressed great admiration for the Reich's policies toward the Jews.
After the war several Muslim states, notably Egypt and Syria cooperated with Odessa to harbor SS war crime fugitives.
