A complete misinterpretation of Pope Benedict's gesture. Other leaders may give in an trim their beliefs, but he will not.

It would be more becoming of a California Republican to worry about issues closer to home, like Arnold.

I just explained in the thread above that it all began when Jimmy Jihad Carter began 'dialogueing' with the enemy- When Regan took office, terrorists crapped their knickers, then came Clinton & the terrorists once again became the vile dogs that they are & planned their attacks on us because they correctly saw that we were once again weak- Pres. GW has staved off terrorism for nearly his whole term now, BUT you can bet that if as 'dialogueing' dem gets in poiwer again, we're doomed! http://sacredscoop.com

"Would that the Pope had stood in Hagia Sophia and asked the Turks to restore this Christian monument to the Orthodox Church..."

That would have been great. Of course the Pope and his entire group would have probably been slaughtered on the spot as the "moderate" Muslims when into jihad-melt-down, but what a moment that would have been.

Stunning too that this guy in from California. And a professor no less.

And another thing--show me a Muslim hospital, orphanage, medical mission, homeless shelter, adoption agency, abused women's shelter, or any other true charitable institution.

Why are we ashamed of our Christian heritage of bravery and charity while they remain so proud of their heritage of unashamed conquest, oppression, and intimidation?

The truth is, the war is spiritual, and will only be won when we recognize it as such.

"the enemy knows that what we pretend to be “tolerance” and “respect” are merely the camouflage of spiritual exhaustion and fear."

Remember; in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. I ran for public office last month, and discovered that a little integrity and a little civility made me look like a giant. The bar for courage is set so low today that any display of manhood at all puts one miles ahead of the pack, and those who really matter will notice.

Thornton has been warning us for years, in fact sometimes he is much clearer than his colleague VDH:

"We keep hearing that we are at war, but no one wants to identify the real enemy – an Islamic civilization that sanctions such murder as the justified means for establishing the religious and political dominance of Islam in fulfillment of the will of God."

my opinion of ratzinger dropped about 10 notches with his visit to Turkiye - the wrong gesture at the wrong time: this pope is completely missing the brilliant timing and cogency of PPVI.
