MLB and NFL should be compelled to make every game in every market available over the internet, regardless of geographic considerations. And no NFL games should be permitted on Thursday night until and unless the NFL network is available on every cable system nationwide. It is un-American to broadcast an NFL game which half of America is unable to watch.
"He said the Pennsylvania senator could be using the threat of legislation to pressure the NFL to make changes voluntarily."
Well then, in that case it sure as heck ain't voluntary. Leftists/Socialists have no idea what individual liberty, capitalism or voluntary even mean.
I guess he has to make good on some of those promises he got paid for before his chairmanship ends.......
This must be an old post. As you well know Specter died 22 years years ago. What you have been seeing is his embalmed remains. I assure you he's as cold as a mackeral!
They can have my Sunday Ticket when they can pry it out of my cold, dead, satellite dish.
Well, good for you Mr. "magic bullet". But how does the fact that I can get access to these games (a service for which I pay extra, I might add) dimish the fact that you will still receive at least three games per week in your area if you have access to the broadcast networks, and up to five games per week if you get ESPN and NFL network? (And even more once they start showing Saturday games in December.)
Big deal Senator Specter. I want to know when you're going to do something about the stupid NFL overtime rule. It's a national priority! I demand hearings. < /s >
I must admit that I've done a bit of a 180 on this issue in the past week or so.
In the past two weeks, I have been told by DirecTV that I cannot view Detroit Red Wings games from Ohio UNLESS I purchase their $170+ sports subscription package. I am not allowed by the FCC to received FSN Detroit, which is what most of the Wings games are broadcast on. I also found out that while I can receive FSN Cincinnati (which is fine), I can't get Cavalier games, for example, on FSN Ohio because I'm 5 miles too far to the west.
This is insane.
I think it's absolutely STUPID to prevent a paying customer in Ohio from receiving FSN Detroit over the Satellite system.
He still shouldn't be going after the NFL. He should instead go after the stupidity of the FCC Rules.
Rant over.
well the fine rats of Pennsylvania just voted OUT the best senator this state had to offer and kept the nutcase....
I hope they get a gut full of rat crap, they deserve it....
We buy the NFL package --- it's the only way we can see the Chargers every week.
Cable companies like Charter and Comcast were offered a chance to carry the games, they turned it down..
How can he possibly be wasting the Congress's time, money and energy on this insignificant problem when the need to lower ATM fees is much more pressing?
I wish he would help get the YES network on DISH network so I can watch the Yankee games.
Future Supreme Court justice?
