Also note that these people will be voting after the real estate bubble, the falling dollar and their own irresponsibility catch up with them.

"Oh, I borrowed money and I have to pay it back? That's evil! It's the loan company's fault. And... and the successful people! It's them, too. They should have to pay back what's been given to them. They've got too much. Government needs to level the playing field. Gimme, gimme, gimme."

Fools will always vote to be avoid the consequences of their foolishness.

while talking about other peoples ignorance, he misuses the word "guaranty",

Spelling words wrong here and there has nothing to do with intelligence and what you know about politics. I know some really smart people that can't spell. I agree, I think that there should be some kind of test to pass before you vote, how can someone possibly submit a sensible vote if they don't know some political facts and are not informed and believe me, anyone that votes Democrat is uninformed.

Revelations chapter 12 verse 14,

'And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent."

The woman referred to is the remnant of Israel and I have often prayed that the eagles wings and wilderness were America. Although we have fallen a ways I believe God still has a purpose for us.

I too have become more "elitist" as I get older. The American ideal of egalitarianism cannot work with the wide range of basic intelligence evident today. Not to mention the disintegration of the concept of what it means to be an American. It's hard to be "brothers" in a severely fractured society.

I'm starting to wonder if the only two options for the cognitive elite in this country are: 1) Continue to bemoan the descent of this country into the abyss; or 2) position themselves to be part of the elite "haves" and live out their lives in some comfort and security.

The stupid may vote, unfortunately. But they still cannot elevate themselves to the functional level that the cognitively able can.

Democratic despotism (despotism by the majority) once was widely considered and discussed. Tocqueville among others (Macaulay, John Adams, Kirk) have written about it.

In every historical instance where egalitarianism is implemented by the majority there is a resulting dumbing down of the culture and the necessity of a dictator to preserve order.

"wide range of" should read "wide disparity in"

Spelling words wrong here and there has nothing to do with intelligence

It's not a matter of spelling a word wrong. He used the wrong word. He spelled "guaranty" correctly. I don't doubt the author's intellegence, I was only pointing out the irony of his own ignorance, while discussing other people's, which is not about "intellegence".

We are all ignorant in some areas, some more so than others but most of the people on this forum know enough to not vote for a democrat.

Amen to that. But the stupid mostly do not vote. Our problem is that too many blocs do vote -- as they are told to vote.

The next biggest problem is probably voting by people or things who are not qualified. Illegal Aliens, multi-voters, tombstones, and rigged voting machines.

"dad feels that people employed by the government shouldn't vote"

Would that apply to military?

"I noticed that, too. Kind of distracts from his very valid message."

It made me laugh given the point of the article.

Even in Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" the soldier didn't have a vote until his hitch was up.

In Heinlein's Starship Troopers, nobody voted until their hitch was up. Are you prepared to disenfranchise the 90+% of the country who are not veterans?

If you don't read the paper, you're uninformed, but if you do, you're misinformed.

Oh, man, that's RIGHT ON!

I would think it might apply to military officers who make a career out of it, in all fairness, but not to enlisted grunts. I don't know -- I'll have to ask him. I know that he was thinking mostly of teachers and social workers!

The unions were allowed to eliminate the teaching of history and geography from our schools, and now Joseph Farah says the politically ignorant should not be allowed to vote? Joseph Farah needs to take up the cause of bringing education back into our public schools. What's he doing about that?

Thanks for the link. Of course, Farah is correct when he says the children would be better educated if they were homeschooled. However, many mothers have to work to help supply basic living needs for their children and cannot stay home to do the teaching. Since the tax spenders are not going to allow vouchers for under-educated students, I would like to see businesses provide classrooms and teachers for working mothers. Especially if these businesses expect to have an educated workforce in the future.
