We're just now pulling out our troops from Germany after over 50 years, and BTW how long have our troops been in Bosnia? Didn't Clinton promise to bring them home in a year...or am I lost in the maze of all his unfulfilled promises...like having "the most ethical administration in history"?

I am enraged by the constant minimizing of the sacrifices the Iraqi people make when they do all they can to defend their country and their neighborhoods. They are targets for shootings, car bombings, kidnappings, etc.

Compare that to the whining of our 'esteemed' judges who cry about being criticized.

I just get nauseous when I hear the soundbite of his Senate floor speech...and I was wondering if he is still thinking what we are doing in Iraq is "criminal".

if the key is Baghdad, and the generals running the thing can't get it done, which they obviously haven't, why does the Prez not find the ones who can?

The problem isn't the generals.  It's the rules of engagement and those are set here in the US, primarily in Washington, but also all across the country in what we, the people, are willing to stomach.  We, collectively, has gone soft and aren't willing to do what needs to be done.

You can't blame the generals for failing if they're not allowed to fight 90% of the time or with any more than 10% of their available power.  You can, however, blame them for accepting those rules of engagement and enforcing them, but not for formulating them.  Of course, any officer he believed in all out war was drummed out of our modern PC military during the 90s as a "Neanderthal brute."

I saw Gordon Smith. He says one thing I agree with and that is that if we are not in this to achieve victory, we have no business continuing this. I hope that is the direction the President takes.

According to Sam and Fareed, the situation in Iraq is hopeless, Bush is to stubborn to admit it, he will sacrifice lives for the sake of his legacy, and it won't work anyway.

Yep. You nailed it. The idea that we could of contained Saddam forever is nonsense. Did NONE of these people even read Bin Laden's Fatwa? US troops "on the holy soil" of Saudi Arabia is one of Bin Laden's propaganda points. The idea that the Saudis were going to let us stay there forever was utter nonsense. Man, the more I think about how many ways our supposed "best and brightest" screwed up this report, the more I get utterly nauseated by the whole thing.

Next time they want a report on a combat zone, I suggest they get 10 guys with CIB badges instead of 10 Washington Machine Lawyers to do it. Not only will it be a whole lot cheaper, it will be about 100% smarter.

These two make Neville Chamberlain look like the commanding officer who, when surrounded by Nazi's during the Battle of the Bulge, said "Nuts!" to the Germans request for surrender..

I agree with you completely and should have more fully expressed myself. I have complained about the ROE before which I think are insane and suicidal.

I guess what I want is a general who demands that he be allowed to fight this thing. I think if this does not happen, loss is inevitable, and it is a loss we cannot afford. We can't aquiesce with every complaint of the Iraqis and they can't be allowed to tell us what we can and cannot do, but that, it seems, is what is going on.

LOL! I understand. I quit Fat Tim quite some time ago....he is unwatchable. There was a time when Fat Tim was a reasonable person, but he suffers from BDS. The only thing I'm looking forward with Fat Tim is to watch him on the stand in the LIbby trial and see him squirm.

Regarding the Economist sorry I was not clear that is not a right wing publication but what I was trying to say and not very well is that especially the right wing publications who were sitting on the fence now are saying do not pull out.

I do not think the Brits will pull out yes we will reduce but then I think so will the US but neither will pull out but obviously certain people are nervous.
