Leaving a mark on Bradford County (Pennsylvania)
The Daily & Sunday Review ^ | 12/10/2006 | By: ERIC HRIN

For the last 35 years, the couple has been involved in a lengthy list of activities, focusing on everything from ending corporal punishment to promoting peace. But now the two have said goodbye to Bradford County. They have moved to Sudbury, near Boston, to be near their children, Seth and Ethan, and their families. And they have left on a high note. Each has received awards for efforts they have undertaken.

TOPICS: Culture/Society; Philosophy; US: Pennsylvania
KEYWORDS:
The Moellers have basically been a pain in the butt for all those years. They say they are Quakers. They were instrumental in getting rid of corporal punishiment in local the government schools in Bradford County. Thanks to them, we have unruly, undisciplined children who do things like jumping out of bus windows, call bus drivers x-rate names etc. Because they are so bad, they finally get kicked off the bus and what does the school do? Well, these disgusting brats get their own little van that picks them up and takes them to school. The Moellers also got funding taken away from abstinence programs. Now that they have moved to the Boston, MA area, we will be SO much better off without these liberals destroying our children. I hope the door didn't hit them in the butts as they were leaving....miracles do happen and I am sure they will fit right in up there in Boston!

I don't know a lot about Bradford County, but I think it votes Republican. Strange though, the Pennsylvania State Education Association map shows some high starting salaries for teachers up there, over 40-thousand a year.

That's more than a lot of districts down here in Southern PA.

I wonder if this couple had school boards that were already liberally inclined up your way since they were so liberal with teacher salaries.

Yes, the starting salaries are way out of line for the area. It's amazing and yes...our Towanda Area School Board is very liberal. We just had one member move from the area and the board made sure to appoint another "yes" member to it!

Hold on to your hats. A Quaker lady came out ahead in the 156th house seat in Pa. She was well funded by the Democrats. She won by 23 votes out of 23,000 cast. She sounds like an airhead every time she opens her mouth.
There will be a recount. It will take a while. I am hoping this airhead backed by every whacko group does not get to Harrisburg. Planned Parenthood loves this Quaker lady. So much for religion.

Her campaign literature HIGHLIGHTED her pro-abortion stance.

I graduated from Towanda High School in the 70's. EVERYTHING was a lot different then. I can remember one girl in 11th grade who wore shorts to school one day. My history teacher at the time made her leave his class. She cried and argued with him saying "you can't do that to me!" And he said..."Oh yes I can...OUT!" And with that, he made her leave. That would never happen today. NEVER! He'd be sued, fired, slandered...you name it!

They will be more at home in Sudbury, MA. The new Gov will put them on some committee where they will shine.

Thanks for you point of view. These folks are not unique. Unfortunately I think most "communities" are "blessed" with at least of these pains. Glad for you that you are rid of them. Enjoy your sanity.

I graduated from THS in the early 70's too! Do you still live in the Towanda area?

Ultra-liberal Quakers? I never would have guessed it, but the few Quakers that I've met seem to lean hard to the Left.

And whenever a school board comes along that isn't a "yes" school board, the liberals gang up and get them voted out.

I hope people are realizing how their money is being drained away for big salaries and big buildings that aren't really needed for education.

Rural America is the main bastion of hope for America. I fear too many people in rural America are losing confidence in their values. Rural people need to be willing to tell meddlers like the Moellers that "we've been getting good kids the way we're doing things and we don't need your help, thank you very much!"
