There are Christmas trees all over malls in China around this time of the year. Let me tell you that most of the retailers who are putting them up aren't thinking about the religious aspect. It's all about getting people to spend. In fact, the Christmas tree thing isn't really about religion. If people really want to celebrate Christmas in the appropriate fashion, they really need to stop bickering over public displays and go to church instead - not just on Christmas eve, but every Sunday. Personally, I think it should be a religious thing. However it's worth noting this contrived controversy involves only the port authority's displays at Sea-Tac, retailers can display what they'd like in their stores and restaurants.
