Every time I hear some lib call for a Department of Peace, I think of Orwell's 1984. In the novel, The perpetual war effort is controlled by the Ministry of Peace, production and rationing is run by the Ministry of Plenty, propaganda and censorship is under the ministry of Truth, and the Ministry of Love is the secret police force. In the argot of the book these are'mini-pax', 'mini-plenty','mini-truth' and 'mini-love'
