Actually, Condi has thrown a huge wet blanket over Baker's urge to go hat in hand to the Syrians. It is noteworthy that Cheney went with Bush to the State Department to meet with Rice today. That was designed to show unity of approach. Methinks there is much more of a meeting of minds between Cheney and Rice than is generally supposed.

Next step: dealing with the Boy President.

Some folks mistake his "gentleman" way for weakness or lack of resolve.

He will politely acknowledge their efforts and proceed to do the right thing anyway, undeterred.
