Survey Shows Americans Want Direct Talks with Iran, Syria

(IsraelNN.com) Almost two-thirds of Americans favor the Baker-Hamilton commission recommendation for direct negotiations with Iran and Syria, according to a Los Angeles Times-Bloomberg poll.

Slightly more than half of Americans want a fixed timetable to take out American soldiers from Iraq, and nearly two-thirds said they view Iraq as being involved in a civil war, a view that American President George W. Bush has denied.

Idiots! Iran and Syria are the perpetrators and enablers of the violence in Iraq.

I support talks with Syria and Iran..

The "talks" require just one sentence...

"Behave or become extinct"..

Almost two-thirds of Americans favor the Baker-Hamilton commission recommendation for direct negotiations with Iran and Syria, according to a Los Angeles Times-Bloomberg poll.

And how many of those two-thirds of Americans are sufficiently intelligent or educated enough to know what is in the best interests of this country with respect to having direct negotiations with Iran, Syria, or any other country? I'm tired of people using "poll" data to try to make some lame point that the Government should do what those who took some poll believe what should be done. After weeks of being spoon fed what the media wants the sheople to hear, someone then does a poll to try to show that the sheople has this or that opinion, which is always based on no actual knowledge of what is the best thing to do.

Polls should be outlawed.

I'd wager a minimum of 90% of those 2/3 couldn't find either Iran or Syria on a map.

I'd guess that at least two-thirds of Americans couldn't place either country on a map.

Right on. I would like to see how many of those polled even knew Iram and Syria were countries before being polled. And I would guess that none of them can find either country on a globe. But no doubt this poll will be used to convince even more people.

>> (IsraelNN.com) Almost two-thirds of Americans favor the Baker-Hamilton commission recommendation

I guarantee that 99.9% of the population cannot articulate what the report is about, who authored it, what conditions it prescribes, what consequences it fails to address, and any other relevent aspect it attempts to speak to.

The population is suffering from fatigue and has no clear idea on what's really going on.

Let's see the actual questions that were asked. These polls always load the questions the way the pollsters want them to turn out.

Okay then, if we are going to decide policy according to polls, then lets prohibit partial birth abortion. For years polls have consistently shown MORE THAN 3/4's of the American population is against partial birth abortion.

How much of America realized Syria and Iran are what are causing lots of terror in Iraq and elsewhere and need their butts kicked?

I would rather find out if any of them have a working knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights first. We have elections every two years for Representatives; every six years for Senators; and every four years for President so that they can make decisions in the best interests of this country and its people. Why in the Hell do we have polls to see whether some dumb smuck from the backwoods of ______________ wants the Government to do ____________, when that dumb smuck hasn't the faintest idea of what the responsibility of Congress and the President really is, let alone having any information regarding the reality of the issue being polled. The American people are being manipulated for someone's agenda when ever a poll is conducted, and the best interests of th is country have nothing to do with the agenda being used.

(IsraelNN.com) Knesset Member Ofir Pines-Paz, who has announced his candidacy to lead the Labor party, said that the "Baker Report" could serve Israel's interests. The report by the former Republican Secretary of State calls on Israel to surrender the Golan Heights to Syria.

MK Pines-Paz said the report meets the Labor party's view of "land for peace."
