As if those jackbooted mass murderers weren't already...
Oh that's easy!
The MSM was too busy bending over backwards and forwards for the Clinton Administration, and nothing they did was base or vulgar enough to merit wasting broadcast time harping over.
Shoot an unarmed women holding a baby in the the head? Incinerate a house full of women and children? Put a bullet in the head of a wayward staffer in a park? Oh, pshaw! It was all for the children, don't ya know! /sarc
But an American soldier in Iraq shoots an al-Quaeda terrorist holding a hand grenade, and it's time to roll out the investigations, get the lawyers working on pressing charges, and get Matt Lauer to put on his sad face and cry for the cameras!
(check the tagline and you'll understand)
Any chance the SCOTUS will see this in the future?
NRA, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!?!?!?!?!
REMEMBER - ANYTHING POSTED ON THE INTERNET IS PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE, TRACEABLE BY IP ADDRESS AND SERVICE PROVIDER, AND IS AVAILABLE TO LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AS PROBABLE CAUSE FOR A SEARCH WARRANT AND/OR EVIDENCE
Just thought it would be appropriate to shout that out in bold caps. Only stupid teenagers put evidence on the Net for all too see. You don't want to be a stupid teenager, do you?
This has been a Public Service Announcement from your friendly neighborhood Drakensis.
(Paranoid? Absolutely. Caught? Never.)
Taken in an historical context, the machine gun ban was enacted at a time when the Evile Bootleggers were using Tommy guns against the Feds trying to stop them from distributing their (illegal and then unconstitutional) Devil Alcohol.
In a very real sense, we can thank that psychotic, beer-barrel-smashing harpy Carrie Nation and her co-conspiritors of the Women's Christian Temperance Movement for taking away Americans' beer and liquor, and shoving Prohibition down their throats instead
That created a criminal black market, and eventually (through the National Firearms Act enacted to fight bootleggers) deprived law-abiding American citizens of any real means of resisting Federal overreach, creeping totalitarianism, and tyranny.
As always, it was a case of bustling busybodies with nothing better to do screaming "it's for the children", and the unintended consequences of their actions resulting a century later in One Nation, Under Absolute Government, With Tyranny and Injustice For All.
SCOTUS is now nothing more than a rubber-stamp court for the Federal bureaucracy now.
They may talk the talk in interviews, but when it comes time to vote, it's "All Power To The State!" on cases regarding individual liberty these days.
I invite anyone here to prove me wrong. Please prove me wrong! For the gods' sake, prove me wrong!
Damn straight.
See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil.
Looks like we are well on our way to a police state. Federal bureaucracy running wild.
Unfortunately, King William's predecessor in office gets credit for that one. It happened in August, 1992.
They did it because the Rats took power in Congress, and the Rats will have their back.
The BATFE and the Rats would call any semi-automatic rifle a machine gun if given the chance.
They can't. Federal code 922(o) flatly forbids all MGs made after 1986.
The problem with the Accellerator is (like most stupidly/unconstitutionally regulated technologies) it falls on the blurry edge of what is/isn't a MG. It's up to BATFE to examine new devices and determine which side of the line they're on; the Accelerator is not clearly on either side, so at first they said it's ok, but with further analysis of design & real-world use they decided it is, for all practical legalistic purposes, a MG - so they have to ban it, and do so retroactively.
Just another example of why prohibition is wrong.
It's not an ex-post-facto issue. Law 922(o) has existed >20 years. It just took BATFE a while and a few attempts to decide whether that law applied to a new product. BATFE is simply (and sometimes badly) interpreting laws, not writing them.
