Sorry to take so long -- I was too upset to watch anymore. Yes, after 2 years, the D.A. said he would drop the case if our son would come back and take a polygraph. We flew Pat home from out of state (where we had him stashed -- legally through the Court, I might add). When our son couldn't tell the Policeman administering the polygraph anything (because nothing happened in the first place), the Officer told him he had flunked the polygraph, that if our son would take a plea he could go on with his life. Our son believed the "nice officer" and since we still had the trial ahead of us to the tune of $35-50K, our son took a plea on the advice of the nice man. The $20,000 I spent on attorneys fees, investigators, witness depositions and whatever was blown. Our son didn't want me to spend any more money on it as he knew what a hardship it was for me and, after all the wise police officer said it would be okay. NEED I SAY ANYTHING MORE TO THE WISE AMONG US -- Police Officers are not always our friends.

We never had a chance to present our evidence in court, never had a chance to do anything. Our son is fine, but it has taken it's toll. The Assistant D.A. who pinned the Accuser's ears back in deposition was floored, she was prepared to drop the charges -- the decision came from higher up the chain to press on and the higher up hadn't seen any evidence. I might point out that the Accuser and the teacher she started this mess with picked me out in court as the defendant. I have the transcript of the preliminary. Yup! They pointed me out to the D.A. and the Judge, describing exactly what I was wearing -- yellow shirt says it as big as life in the transcript. Our son was wearing a pink button-down polo shirt.

If you can't afford to investigate, you won't get justice from L.E. trust me.

No problem, I was just pointing out that settling is not always easy and Nifong would not have let this case go away until he won the election.

"If you can't afford to investigate, you won't get justice from L.E. trust me."

That simply isn't true, and I am sick and tired of you making that claim based on your single experience out of the millions of cases investigated, brought and prosecuted or dropped for insufficient evidence each year in this country.
