A man was fatally shot Wednesday evening in southwest Houston while eating crawfish at a Cajun restaurant, the Houston Police Department said. The 29-year-old man was seated while eating in the Cajun Kitchen at 11900 Bellaire around 9 p.m. when two men entered and shot him in the head, police said. The owner of the restaurant chased the suspects and fired several shots at the gunmen before they escaped.
The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.
Well, from what is briefly available in that link, what's being described is probably not N.O. native but the influx of illegal immigration population, in whose country of origin this is probably an everday, accepted thing.
"Will I HAVE to kill? Will I be killed"
I guess that's what we are faced with. But at least we've got cheap labor.
No wonder! Mudbugs ain't KOSHER!........
Happy to be out of Houston!.......So are the Titans!.........
Have you tried the Ragin' Cajun?
If they don't have any crawdads, try the etouffee. Man oh MAN, is that good stuff!
And their red beans and rice might be the best in town.
They're grown in farms now, so they are always in season.....Zatarain's......
Crawdad envy?
Shades of Joey Gallo.
Not a contract hit. Gang hit. We're dealing with Katricians, not wiseguys.
Not bad? It is a HIDEOUS part of town. It's not a slum quite yet, but it's this close and has been for years.
I stand corrected, but when I lived there they came out of ditches and swamps. I googled crawfish farms, and you're on the money, although the farm raised are rather expense compared to what I remember.
They are "standard" fare in Asian restaurants now, along side the sweet & sour pork and General Tso's Chicken........plus crab legs and green mussels.......go figure......
PS, I played with them in those Mississippi ditches and creeks when I was a kid.......
It's crawfish season. It started Dec. 11. The farm raised crawfish season starts earlier.
I would like to thank y'all for making me hungry for crawdads at the ungodly hour of 8:20 in the morning! :)
Problem is, Weight Watchers does not approve of red beans and rice. Oh, the dilemma!
No, but Sugar Busters would highly approve of red beans with (brown) rice!
Yeah, but I don't know if it'd be smart to switch diets for just one meal. :)
Does anyone remember those big metal lawn chairs? I can remember being small enough to have to crawl up there and my evil cousin would take my Grandfather's "bait" crawfish and put one on the chair with me. I would scream and my Grandfather would rescue me! I swear they looked like lobsters to me at that age.
We boys used to find them in the ditches in springtime at school and chase the girls with them..........
Were the crawfish "the best in the city"?
The tails can be frozen and used for gumbo, etouffe or stew all year!
