Heck, Lincoln had a brother-in-law who was a Confederate sympathizer.

Couldn't have McClintock/Hunter. POTUS and Veep can't be from the same state, it's in the Constitution.

By people I know and trust that actually know him, WIA.

No offense, but that doesn't mean crap.

And I think the fact that he gave thousands of dollars from his own campaign funds to leave those gallons of water in the desert for illegals coming into this country will inoculate him from the racist charges you have to know will be coming.

First, very few Americans see people who want strong border protection as racists. It will not be a problem. Second... citation please for the water funding?

I know a woman who has a nursing degree and is considering the Air Force. She told me she will either enlist on the Wednesday after the 2008 election or forget about it completely, depending on who is elected.

Can't blame her one bit.

"Last, I have it on good authority that there is a wonderful group of individuals preparing to back Cong. Hunter when he decides to run!"

You must clue me in! I demand to know all your secrets! :)

I jumped onto the Duncan Hunter bandwagon the day he announced he might run.

Why not? They could just forfeit California's electoral votes and save some campaign dollars.

Can you provide a source for this please?

Ain't it a good thing you and I can joke about it now? Like Mel Brooks said, Tragedy + Time = Comedy.

Fair enough...wouldn't surprise me if Jon Hunter is lying, but it also is fine with me if Duncan sent money. Just because I want these folks to sttay in their own country doesn't mean I want them to die of thirst.

"How about Steele, or J.C. Watts? Both are black, both are eloquent. Steele would even soften the ideology for the moderates."

Steele, especially, could work out very well.

I am pleased that Duncan Hunter has a conservative voting record. However, it takes no special skill to vote 100% conservative. Were my Aunt Myrtle were a Congresswoman, she could do it too. Duncan Hunter managed to become Chairman of Armed Services, which is to his credit. However, we now know that an ignoramus made it to Intelligence Committee Chairman for the Democrats, and doubtless neither are all GOP Committee Chairmen latter day Daniel Websters.

If Rep. Hunter is qualified to be President, he needs prove that he is capable, intelligent and qualified. One such qualification is his legal training. There we have a problem. He bio claims he attended the obscure and undistinguished Western State University College of Law, but the California State Bar states Hunter graduated from the equally obscure and undistinguished Thomas Jefferson School of Law. So there are two problems, (1) Hunters' bio has a discrepancy and (2) his law school is an inconsistent choice for someone with ambition and intelligence sufficient to eventually become President.

Hillary Yale Law Clinton and her MSM minions will make sure everyone knows about Hunter's dubious legal education, and it will become fodder for the obligatory Dem stupid charge, which Hunter will only be able to shake if he is obviously brilliant on T.V. and in debates.

"his law school is an inconsistent choice for someone with ambition and intelligence sufficient to eventually become President."

The average voter couldn't care less about what law school he went to, only snobbish elites would care and only those elites who won't admit to themselves that our "prestige" schools are considerably less than institutions with rigorous academic standards. Kerry almost won and his academic record was pitiful. Does anyone remember, or care what schools Ronald Reagan went to? John Kennedy? No.
This is a typical argument put up by those who think the public is looking for someone to "rule" them. They're not.
They're looking for someone who is honest and who believes that the politicians work for the people, not the other way around.
I don't believe Hunter will have any problem with his academic background.

A few, actually only a VERY few Senators get elected president ( and JFK was placed in that office by his father's money, the Mafia, and a corrupted election! ); Representatives don't and since you haven't noticed, Hunter isn't a Senator and he doesn't have the money or backing. Those are the facts and in no way a "defeatist attitude".

The REAL questions that need to be asked are, what kind of backing does Hunter have? Who does he "KNOW"? What kind of an organization can he put together? And where is he going to get the kind of experience he needs, but does not now have, to be able to maneuver successfully in a presidential debate; primary and general election?

Just how much money can YOU raise? Do YOU have a network of monied political junkies, that you can tap for him?

Rudy heaped high praise on Roberts and Alito and has always said that Scalia is the kind of jurist he would put on the SCOTUS, IF he were to choose them.

Facts matter..............learn some!
