Pittsburgh Steelers' linebacker Joey Porter was fined $10,000 by the NFL on Thursday for a gay slur he made towards Cleveland Browns' tight end Kellen Winslow after the game on Thursday.
During the game, Winslow was flagged for a personal foul for hitting Steelers linebacker James Farrior after a play. In a post-game interview, Porter referred to Winslow with a derogatory word used to describe homosexuals.
On Tuesday, Porter apologized, saying he didn't intend to offend anyone but Winslow.
"I guess, how we used that word freely, me using it growing up, I didn't think anything of it," Porter said on Tuesday. "I apologize to anyone I offended. I didn't mean to offend nobody but Kellen Winslow."
This was Porter's second fine of the season. During a game against the Atlanta Falcons in October, Porter was fined $15,000 for comments he made to an official.
There is no word on whether Porter will appeal the fine.

This is the 4th story I have read on this subject without a single mention of "fag", "faggot", "fudgepacker" or whatever it is that Porter called him. I am so sick of the censorship.
How forcing Mr Porter to attend sensitivity training, so he can learn all the wonderful things about the "gay" lifestyle, such as...
(1) He should be forced to dress in drag
(2) He should be forced to spend 2 hours in a gay bar
(3) He should be forced to have unprotected sex with 10 men in one evening, while using a combination of Ecstacy and Viagra.

I suddenly have a new admiration for Joey Porter. Not because of what he said about Winslow, but just because he didn't back down from his statement. He clarified it.

Reminds me of when i was in high school. This kid kept saying the word fag/gay over and over, and the teacher was gay. He then yelled at him and told him to stop, and then the kid responds, that's gay. Everyone started laughing and the teacher dragged his butt to the principals.

In high school, I called my gay french teacher a faggot.
He sent me to the vice-principal's office.
The v-p said to me "gate, you have to stop calling Mr. so-and-so a faggot."
I said "well, he is."
The v-p laughed and told me to get out of his office.
