The Chairman of Irian Khodro Auto Parts Supply and Distribution says that the Iranian passenger car, Samand, is the best chance for Iran to enter the Chinese auto market.
Okay, I'll admit that I didn't have a clue that Iran had their own car. Goes to show you what I know.
It seems everyone wants a share of the Chinese auto market. Why shouldn't Iran be interested as well?
China and Japan are neck and neck in investing in the research and development areas of automobile - $136 billion and $130 billion respectively.
Iran wants China to invest some of that money in one of their cars.
Fat chance, perhaps. But everyone can dream of doing big business in China...even Iran

I was shocked that Iran can actually make cars. Search on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samand) showed that Iran makes car with brand name "Samand" (Persian meaning "fast horse", envisioned by Pres. Mohammad Khatami). Based on French Peugeot 405 platform, made with 85% local components.

Is it called the "Destructo" or the "Bomber"?

No, but I think there is a built in timer, just in case.

The answer appears to be "yes". As guy said: "made with 85% local components."

Yes, and for each car purchased for 2007, the buyer receives 400 pounds of TNT free, with each vehicle....

Based on French Peugeot 405 platform Ugly. The 504 would've been a way better platform, and one of the sturdiest ever made. Still used for rally racing, in fact.

Does it come with the Semtex and detonator as standard equipment? I wonder how fast they accelerate from 0 to 1,000 mph?

I wonder how fast they accelerate from 0 to 1,000 mph? LOL... you just brought back memories of that episode of "Myth Busters" where they strapped a JATO jet engine to an old sedan to see how fast it would go...

Iran produces cars (among other things) since the Shah times.
Good for 'em, cause unlike the Arabs they at least have a somewhat diversified economy. Should be of good use to them, when the Islamo-Nazi regime is destroyed.

I wish Iran was more like NK, importing everything and relying on subsidies. Unfortunately, they seem to have grasped the importance of indigenous industrial exports.

Maybe not.
The Islamo-Nazi regime prohibited imports and that allowed the Iranian automaker to survive. The 405 was a nice car but went out of mainstream production a long time ago.
If imports become allowed, Honda and Toyota, not to mention Hyundai and Kia, will crush them.
