Gone quiet(Almost too quiet)

CNN) -- It's quiet. Almost too quiet.

That's what you get in a horror movie, just before something bad happens. But does the same cliché hold true in the world of al Qaeda, whose leaders have gone very quiet?

We had a flurry of messages from al Qaeda's number two, Ayman al-Zawahiri, around the time of the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks. There was an al Qaeda propaganda video about the 9/11 plot, a message to Americans urging them to convert and another message bemoaning the fate of alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad who was captured in 2003. There was even an al Qaeda-conducted interview with al-Zawahiri.

Yeah right! Starting to sound like Glen Beck and his August 22nd paranoia rantings! Nothing is going to happen other than visions of black helicopters circling in your head!

Has anyone thought about all of the food poisoning cases? Is this natural or is someone assisting?

For some reason, I had the very same thought today.

Allegra, I wish the best for you. We have some troops coming back from Iraq next month, and they cannot believe the news they are seeing here in the US.

I keep you and the entire military family in my prayers each night. Take care and keep us informed of the progress. We love our military and their supporters.

Well we could completely destroy the Sunni Triangle with intense bombing, killing Sadr to see if that rile up any of the snakes! Oh wait, the NYTimes will get riled up. Yep.

But I can spin a very convincing conspiracy theory.

Clearly, keeping it a secret would be an advantage for Musharraf. While the ruins were still smoking, he was already claiming that al Zawahri was not there when we bombed it. He issued several public statements telling his people that there were a lot of bad guys in that "school," but that Zawahri was not one of them. He was tryingt to keep calm. He was very anxious to stifle rumors that al Zawahri was there, which is another reason I suspect that al Zawahri was there. Musharraf did not even sift the debris before making that announcement. My suspicion is that he did not need to sift the debris, because he knew that al Zawahri was there.

Bush was trying to help him out by not spilling the beans. Possibly, Bush even agreed that he'd keep it a secret in order to get Musharraf to give us the intel that led to the bombing.

And Bush probably told the Congressional leadership about it so that he could not be accused of keeping this a secret so as to justify a continuation of the war. [The Dems would say that he kept it a secret because he knew that the public would lose interest in the "war without end" if the top al Qaeda leadership were dead].

And the GOP leadership kept it quiet because the President asked them to do so, while the Dem leadership kept it quiet because they did not want Bush getting the credit for killing al Zawahri and bin Laden, particularly just days before an election.

Do you notice how the Dems have stopped talking about "Osama bin Forgotten?" Because they know that if they did, they would be tempting Bush to call them on it by leaking the info.
