Uh, actually vultures don't eat live prey, Katie. If vultures are circling, it's because you'll soon be dead.
Hawks, on the other hand, do go after live prey.
I heard about an occurrence that happened recently in my hometown, where a not-so-nice person died, and at the funeral service at the graveside, a dove was released. A hawk swooped down, grabbed the dove, and pinned it to the ground - squawking, feathers flying, etc. A number of those present who knew the truth about this person were very hard-pressed not to laugh out loud...
