It's painful to really step back and look at where we are compared to what were are capable of less than 100 years ago.

Worth reading (or listening to): FDR Pearl Harbor address

Here's something else:

I would to see the [Iraqis] do more. I would to see them carry
this burden I would like to see them doing the fighting and
not just Americans. Because I don't think there is any alternative
to that. We are not going to win unless the [Iraqis] do more,
and make more of an effort. It shouldn't be just the United States
and Americans doing it.

First we were making the effort there so that people had their own
right to decide their own future and select their own form of
government. And it wasn't going to be imposed on them by
[the terrorists]. We had the support of the people of [Iraq]. I think
thats why we were involved in that struggle... Now we turned.
When we found that the [Iraqis] haven't given the support and are
not making the effort.

That was RFK. I swapped Iraq for South Vietnam.

Yes, it is painful to see how the American public have changed since WWII, by trying so hard to surrender Iraq to OBL, the hippie generation have proved over the decades that they just aren't tough enough.

No more icky war on TV!

You seem like you'd enjoy/appreciate listening to this Dec 15 1941 radio program about the Bill of Rights.

But take heart. We also had the same, or worse, leftists back then, too: Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun.
