I abjor Mary's lifestyle and choices, but I gotta say...do you think she hates her own father? How far do you go with the "man-hating" proposition?
As I said, I don't know about the specifics of this case. Some lesbians have said they are lesbians because they dispise men, and I'm saying that THOSE particular lesbians I would not trust to appropriately raise a son.
