He could express his support of fair and equal treatment of all Americans under the law without making any pronouncements about the character and quality of the individuals involved.
As a Christian he clearly knows what the Bible says on these matters. His statements on the Defense of Marriage reveal this. But he must not give the gay agenda any credibility by suggesting that there is anything normal or hopeful about a homosexual "family".
I hate bigotry of every sort--but it is not Christian love to become an enabler for any destructive lifestyle.
God bless you and your family this Christmas, Ohio.
Now, let's take back the Congress and secure the White House in '08!!!:-)
The Bible says more about charging inerest to the poor and debt forgiveness than it does about gays.
You're right. He could have done this. But the Cheney family are his friends, and his on the spot instinct, as a Christian, was to support them.
As one who is violently opposed to what Mary Cheney is doing, I can't see that he, in his official capacity as President of the United States, did anything other than what he should have done here.
And you have a Blessed Christmas too, Walter.
Three of four of our kids are home (the fourth out of country and not able to get back), so we will have three fourths of a Merry Christmas. :)
