Don't look now, but Virginia is seceding again. On Sunday nine Episcopal parishes in Virginia, including the one where George Washington served as a vestryman, announced that they had voted to up and leave the U.S. Episcopal Church to protest its increasingly equal treatment of homosexuals.

The Church members are leaving because they do NOT want to desecrate the memory of the honorable past vestrymen such as George Washington, by the practice of heresy by the hierarchy of the Episcopal Church. Miss Meyerson and her ilk illustrate the difficulty the good Episcopalians face with not only the coersive threats by the corrupt bishops to take away their property, but the venom of leftists and other heretics like Meyerson, IMO.

real question is when did "equality" become the main governing law?

The real question is when did sexual perversion become a civil rights issue?

Sorry, not all of us are attraced by the "theological innovation" that goes on in Las Vegas.

Oh, come on! You couldn't get on board with pastor Elvis and the chior singing about Sodom and Gomorrah?

"It was a hunk a hunk of burnin' gays! Ooooo It was a hunk a hunk of burnin' gays!"

Well... perhaps they would sing something else.

The Episcopalian I know says their denomination is the most intelligent. He also says they have no problem with any sin and their doors are open because "no one is perfect".

Apparently it's Harold Meyerson who is theologically innovative.

Here's a useful story: apparently ECUSA and Canada have been censured, and that is the way it will remain until the next conference in 2008:
Anglican council censures Canada, U.S.
Solange De Santis
staff writer
Sep 1, 2005
Lynn Ross

Nottingham, England: The Anglican Consultative Council, which
met June 18-29, voted to censure the Canadian and American
churches for their more-liberal stand on homosexuality after
listening to presentations from both churches.

The council, an international group that meets once every
three years, also decided to allow the 38 primates, or
national bishops, of the Anglican Communion to join.

The 70-odd members of the council met at the University of
Nottingham in an auditorium that was physically hot, due to
wobbly air conditioning and a heat wave, and emotionally
tense.

Although the council discussed such matters as the Middle
East and the United Nations' Millen-nium Development Goals,
public interest focused on sexuality.

On June 22, the council decided to endorse a request from
Anglican primates that Canada and the United States withdraw
from the council at least until the 2008 Lambeth
Conference, suggesting that the two churches "voluntarily
withdraw" from two important council committees.

Miss Meyerson has her panties in a bunch....

The secular activists (even religious 'reformers' like PB Jefforts-Schori) and high perch commentators simply don't get it....

The Body of Christ is not an institution of man...
It is a movement of God....

The head of the Body is Jesus Christ --
And the Body is led and energized by the Spirit of the Living God...
Who does not change... or lie...

The same offer of mercies, compassion, healing, and transformation is available to all who choose to receive....

And the same ultimate judgments await those who refuse to acknowledge God and receive his offer of reconciliation purchase on the cross....

Jesus is the way the truth and the life...

Regardless of the opinions....

I thought that line was inserted as commentary by the FR poster. I had no idea that the author actually meant it. That explains A LOT!

It really boils down to the homosexuals want no debate over choice.

Homosexuals push the notion that they have no choice in how they obtain sexual gratification. Their sexual gratification is to be judgment proof and not even "god" is allowed to dispute their method of orgasm.

The fact is there is NOTHING, ZERO, ZIP, in any credible science to support any posture of homosexuality as anything other than a learned behavior.

this is not about equal rights for homosexuals, this is about special rights for those with a particular sexual fetish. Homosexuality is only about the orgasm, nothing else.

Legacy Media is still unhappy that they were ineffective in selecting a Pope of their own choosing.

Usually, I'm the one to miss the subtle, cultural references.

But "screaming Queen" clued me in.

Alas, poor Freddie Mercury, I knew him, not, Horatio.

No bias in the media here...

Actually the opinion page is the appropriate place to register bias.

Poor Freddy Mercury. "Queen" was a big smash in the 1970s but nothing could save him from his lifestyle and the ravages of AIDS.

Actually, in the case of the Episcopal Church, it boils down to the presiding bishop and leadership wanting no choice (let alone debate over choice).

The homosexual issue is just the symptom, not the underlying problem. Bishop Schori, her predecessor Bishop Griswold and their cabal rule the Episcopal Church along the lines of a modern US university/authoritarian system: they preach "tolerance" and "diversity" - but permit none that contradicts their own ideology (even though their own ideology may contradict long-established theology and practice). The unpermissiveness is backed by a pattern of coercion and threats against parishes that don't toe the "party line". Don't like what the cabal wants you/your congregation to push? Well, you can either suck it up and keep your mouth shut, or kiss your assets goodbye ...

It is my understanding that the Anglican Communion has effectively expelled the American Episcopal Church (ECUSA), and that ECUSA is no longer considered to be Anglican.

Bzzzt....false.

It's still under discussion...They are talking themselves to death while their church evaporates.
