I-25 is closed this evening from Las Vegas NM to at least Denver. The road is actually clear to Raton (or was earlier), but there are no more accommodations there.

As State Police did last night in ABQ, they will close an interstate if conditions 50 or 100 miles away are bad. The small towns are overwhelmed with stranded motorists, even though long haul truckers are furious. The I-40 closure lasted 16 hours and was easy to maintain as the interstate and old Hwy 66 are the only roads east out of ABQ for 50+ miles in either direction. Local folks were allowed up old 66 with proof of residence.

As of 6 p.m. it was still snowing in ABQ.

I've been watching this storm on my 'Weatherbug' and the darn thing hasn't moved much since this morning.

Wind here in Ne. panhandle has finally gone down to 15-20 mph but still snowing.

Just a FWIW.
