The stick on bows never stay stuck for me. I find myself taping them around the edge, and that's why I bought that gadget at the Ninety Nine Cent store. Fortunately, it was a gadget I understood how to use. So many aren't and I toss them into the trash.

It's no kidding. I'll make much of it on the 24th when I have no company, such as the stuffing, deviled eggs, fruit salad (I'm not making the pies, they're bought), and deviled ham. I can peel the potatoes, make the sour cream appetizer dip, etc., on the day before, also the veggie / olives / pickles tray. That pretty much leaves the turkey, gravy, reheating and finishing the potatoes, and the really quick and easy asparagus for the 25th.

My friend, for whom I designed this salad (smile) will eat almost anything but I can't get him to go for the mayo and walnuts (or walnut substitute) in this salad! He's allergic to walnuts so I can understand that part, but he won't even allow diced celery in the thing. I think I may have to, on some future occasion, make a small Waldorf salad for myself. To me, Waldorf salad is essential at Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is my compromise on that deal.

We don't have the sweets around in abundance on Christmas day so I guess that's why the big difference in the way I do the appetizers. Usually what happens is everyone has breakfast but gets kind of a late start, we open gifts in the early afternoon, and eat the appetizers (by this time of day I'm needing protein), and visit. The main course is cooking all the while, and after a couple hours, we eat dinner. The sweets come in pie / dessert form a few hours later.

What our appetizers amount to is a late, light lunch: it has protein, vegetables, and starch.

Salmon mousse sounds wonderful, as does your whole meal (excepting those Brussels sprouts, which my taste buds never have come to terms with). My mother thought very highly of them and served them often.

You're very welcome, kitkat. Probably a tad too late for this Christmas, but maybe you can find something for next year.

Brussels are a British tradition for Christmas dinner most people do not consider it Christmas if Brussels are not served even if they do not like them. LOL

I did not care for them at one time restaurant ones for me were undercooked ones at home were overcooked, I have discovered though if steamed they are just right for me. If I get my act into order I will add some boiled chestnuts to them and or put the chestnuts in the stuffing.
