U.S. finally admits Arafat murdered American officials.
WND ^ | December 27, 2006 | Joseph Farah

WASHINGTON – After 33 years of secrecy, the U.S. State Department has finally declassified a document admitting it knew the late Yasser Arafat, chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization, plotted and supervised the murders of two U.S. diplomats in Sudan in 1973, a cover-up first exposed by WND in January 2001.

The document, released earlier this year, with no fanfare, makes it clear the Khartoum operation "was planned and carried out with the full knowledge and personal approval" of Arafat, a frequent visitor to the White House throughout the 1990s who died in 2004.

In the attack March 1, 1973, eight members of the Black September terrorist organization, part of Arafat's Fatah faction of the PLO, stormed the Saudi embassy in Khartoum on Arafat's orders, taking U.S. Ambassador Cleo Noel, diplomat Charge d'Affaires George Curtis Moore and others hostage, and one day later, killing Noel, Moore and Belgian diplomat Guy Eid.

The admission comes 33 years after James J. Welsh, then the National Security Agency's Palestinian analyst, saw a communication intercepted from Arafat to his terrorist commandos in Sudan.

Within minutes, Welsh told WND, the director of the NSA was notified and the decision was made to send a rare "FLASH" message – the highest priority – to the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum via the State Department.

But the message didn't reach the embassy in time. Somewhere between the NSA and the State Department, someone decided the warning was too vague. The alert was downgraded in urgency.

The next day, eight members of Black September, part of Arafat's Fatah organization, stormed the Saudi embassy in Khartoum, took Noel, Moore and others hostage. A day later, on March 2, 1973, Noel, Moore and Eid were machine-gunned to death – all, Welsh had insisted for years, on the direct orders of Arafat.

Arafat, with America's reticence, showed the world that terrorism is a viable political tool. We are now paying the price for our failure to decisively respond to the early hijackings.

It's always been my understanding that the US State Department tends to conduct itself as a "government apart" from the rest of the US.

I seem to recall hearing the State Department referred to as "the 4th coequal branch of government" (paraphrasing, of course) by some of the more moonybattery types during the Rice appointment hearings.

I am probably off by a wide margin but it's always seemed to me that if a body wanted to dig up treason and sedition among the upper levels of federal gov, the Dept of State or whatever it's official name is would be the best place to hit gold.

Wasn't this guy Sadr wanted for murder when we went into Iraq and then he was just given a pass? Now he is operating a militia inside of a sovereign nation.

One of the murderers of Ambassador Noel, et al, was later serving as the PLO Charge D'Affaires at the PLO Representation in Harare, Zimabawe. Clearly, the murder of hostages of the PLO was a resume-enhancer.

"The real question I have is why the US was covering for a murderous thug like Arafathead?"

The answer is that the US state department has never met a murderous thug it didn't love. They are pretty much all socialist $hitheads who, if there were justice in the world, should all be hanged for treason.

In 1995, Giuliani made national headlines by ordering PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat ejected from a Lincoln Center concert held in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations after Arafat showed up to the event uninvited. "Maybe we should wake people up to the way this terrorist is being romanticized," Giuliani said, and noted that Arafat had been implicated in the murder of American civilians and diplomatic personnel.[22] A spokesman for the Clinton Administration stated Giuliani's actions were "an embarrassment to everyone associated with diplomacy."[23]

The Clinton administration's actions were not representative of America. Clinton supported groups that were listed as terrorist organizations such as the KLA.
In 1997, Osama bin Laden visited Albania to help establish the Kosovo Liberation Army. He provided between $500 million to $700 million and – according to an upcoming book by Paul L. Williams, "The Al Qaeda Connection" – 500 seasoned Arab Afghan troops to train KLA recruits at the al-Qaida headquarters in Albania and at another camp in Macedonia.

I wish I knew how to put up photos of Albright shaking hands with the KLA thug.
The truth will eventually catchup with all the lies that have been injected into the American public. Eventually, they will become sober. What in the hell does this have to do with the PLO? They all share the same Islamic cause.

Great post.
I remember when Giuliani ejected Arafat from lincoln center. I was great when he went after the UN 'diplomats' for multi millions in un paid parking fines.

The (retreat dept) State dept was a little put off.
