Happy New Year!

Ya know, when all is said and done, there will be a special place in FReeper lore for the DC Chapter.

...coming from someone with a pretty awesome homepage herself.

I just happened to be looking at it and musing over last Christmas when my son was married in DC and I had high hopes of joining a WRF. Those hopes were, to say the least, some what beyond reality. We barely had time for wedding and pre and post wedding activities much less another two or three hour trip to DC for a freep.

It has therefor been so uplifting to be able to vicariously read of the weekly action, by so many dedicated folks who without fail give their time and effort to a very worthy cause, and then unselfishly go the extra mile to share the experience with those in the hinterland unable to attend.

I was scheduled for another opportunity, in Feb 2007 for Satellite 2007 in DC, but I received notice that I am schedule for patriotic duty all the month of Feb. So there goes another chance, replaced by JURY DUTY. Ah well, looking forward to those post freep reports. Thanks again.

PS, I do hope I haven't made a gender boo boo? Never gave it a thought, until AFTER, and then that cold fearful fealing swept over me like when I dreamed of going to school without any clothes on, or something like that.

Fealing, where did that come from?

Wow, we hope you can join us one of these days. DC is far from SD! Thank you for thinking of us, and we're glad you like our adventure stories.

I do hope I haven't made a gender boo boo?

Your intuition is working perfectly.

HEADS UP:

Massive March in D.C. Act Now to End the War

Saturday, January 27, 2007
Washington, DC
Bring the Mandate for Peace to Washington DC on Jan. 27

Tell the New Congress: Act NOW to Bring the Troops Home!

Join United for Peace and Justice in a massive march on Washington, D.C., on Sat., January 27, to call on Congress to take immediate action to end the war.

On Election Day the voters delivered a dramatic, unmistakable mandate for peace. Now it's time for action. On January 27, 2007, we will converge from all around the country in Washington, D.C. to send a strong, clear message to Congress and the Bush Administration: The people of this country want the war and occupation in Iraq to end and we want the troops brought home now!

Congress has the power to end this war through legislation. We call on people from every congressional district in the country to gather in Washington, DC -- to express support for those members of Congress who are prepared to take immediate action against the war; to pressure those who are hesitant to act; and to speak out against those who remain tied to a failed policy.

The peace and justice movement helped make ending the war in Iraq the primary issue in this last election. The actions we take do make a difference, and now there is a new opportunity for us to move our work forward. On Election Day people took individual action by voting. On January 27 we will take collective action, as we march in Washington, DC, to make sure Congress understands the urgency of this moment.

Join United for Peace and Justice in this crucial push for peace!
