In a 2004 interview, former President Ford said he wouldn't have gone to war in Iraq.
Ford told Bob Woodward of The Washington Post that he "very strongly" disagreed with President Bush's reasoning. Ford asked that the interview be held until after his death.
Ford was also critical of Vice President Cheney -- his White House chief of staff -- and then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who also served as Ford's chief of staff and later was his secretary of defense.
The former president said the two "made a big mistake" in pushing weapons of mass destruction as a justification for war.

And Casey's last word was "Rosebud".
The democrats using death for political opportunity again. Nobody should be surprised.
At least his parents weren't members of the Communist Party like the little dweeb, Carl Bernstein.
Bob Woodward is to good journalism what the e.coli virus is to an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Next thing you know, Woodward will be claiming that the late James Brown once said to him in confidence that he "didn't really like black people".
Ford may have, or this may be taken out of context. With Woodward one never knows for sure. Besides, nobody ever said everyone had to agree with everything President Bush is or was doing. Just as President Ford made decisions that were not supported by polls, so too does President Bush. To me, this so-called revelation is just hype, smoke and mirrors to get his name into the news.
It's just so crude and uncouth to put that "information" out so immediately.
Wonder what negative things he had to say about Carter. And, more importantly, will we ever hear about them?
Is this another of those death bed interviews?
It's getting pretty F@#%$#&G bad when a news reporter has to put words into the mouths of the dead because they don't want to be disproved as soon as their story gets printed.
Excuse my French, sometimes such words are appropriate.
LOL ......... I thought you were going to say, "Next thing you know, Woodward will be claiming that the late James Brown once said Bush blew it going into Iraq."
;-)
I saw a few important and respected people talking about this on tv last night. I don't have a great deal of doubt that Ford felt this way, but you are right, some decisions are not to be made to be supported by polls.
Woodward is the ultimate attention hound......... except for this loser.

I don't know about the veracity of the story, but to me, it's even worse that he couldn't wait until AFTER the funeral ceremonies to spill his silly beans.
this is just the genius of the man, even after death he wants to get to the left, they have to agree with a republican
My thoughts exactly!
I don't pay attention to what Trump or Rosie have to say, or do. They simply don't affect me.
Woodward, OTOH, says something and the left thinks it has to be gospel. It isn't.
(Good morning, by the way. I hope you have enjoyed a Merry Christmas this year.)

I heard Ford comment that going to war over WMD, and then not finding any was basically unsound.
That much makes sense from his POV.
Of course we didn't hear how the questions were phrased and such, so it's all a little out of context; and rushed.
Hope your Christmas was nice too, and Happy New Year.
Hey BOB !!!!
Let's hear the tape, OK?
Yes, I want to have PROOF, OK?
NO, personal notes won't do.
Let's hear the tape, OK?
