I believe that "log canoe" means just that, a hollowed out log , anywhere but the Chesapeake. The Ches log canoes are more recent, usually built from 3-5 logs joined to form the hull, used for oystering and crabbing, and with a scary amount of sail put up, racing. An impressive site to watch. Perhaps one of our fellow Freepers does or knows someone who belongs to one of the many log canoe sailing clubs along the Chesapeake and can enlighten us ?
