can you believe it! in this day of DVR's and TiVo I still own and operate a VCR. To be honest, I just don't see the point in spending all that money for digital cable and/or satellite with as little TV that I watch. all my favorite programs I can watch on basic cable.

According to a report, the observance of Eid (get your Eid stamps at your local Post Office) starts either tomorrow or Sunday depending on whether one is Sunni or Shia.

I figure it's either been done already or will be done within hours. Everything else under Iraqi law has been met to clear the way for Saddam's hanging.

What I sold was the winning bidder's screen name being put into a request letter. That request letter to be in the hanging partner as a representative of American taxpayers was sent certified mail to the Iraqi ambassador. The winning bidder got the letter in a nice frame. :) I give the money from the spoof auctions to FR.

CNN International reporter is saying that Saddam cannot be executed Saturday because it is a Muslim holiday and thusly forbidden.

He would have to be executed before or after Saturday. Saturday begins in about 3 hours.

You should anticipate the negativity and long faces and the liberal mantra that the US "put" Saddam in and supported him. My advice: just smile and say nothing.

If they believed it to be true, then simply state that the US corrected the problem. Unlike the mistake made by Jimmah Carter allowing the overthrow of the Shah. How about the Democratically controlled congress pass a law to eradicate Iran's theocracy.
