BAGHDAD, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- The ousted dictator Saddam Hussein as executed early on Saturday in the Baghdad northern suburban district of Al-Kathmiah, a member of the legislative authority said.Sami Al-Askari said in a statement that Saddam was hanged in a building that used to be occupied by the intelligence authority of the toppled Baath regime.
Muwaffak Al-Rabiee, the national security advisor, said Saddam appeared subdued and panicked when he was dragged to the gallows, and that he made no will ahead of the execution.
With the announcement of the execution many Iraqis opened fire into the air throughout the Baghdad expressing jubilation at end of the life of the toppled dictator. In the suburban Al-Sadr city, thousands of people marched on streets expressing jubilation at the news.
A chief judge confirmed that Saddam, mastermind of atrocities against his people and the 1990-1991 occupation of the State of Kuwait, was executed by gallows earlier in the day. Munir Haddad, member of the Court of Appeal, said Saddam's life was brought to an end with hanging, adding that his two convicted former aides, Barzan Al-Tikriti and Awwad Bandar, were not executed. He said that the execution of the pair had been delayed indefinitely.
Al-Rabiee, said in statements, that the execution of Saddam's convicted aides might be carried out after Eid Al-Adha, that fell today.
Official sources said Saddam was hanged with presence of seven representatives of the government, a Muslim cleric and a doctor.
Iraqi television stations cut normal broadcasting to announce the execution of the dictator that brought horrors to his people throughout 23 years of his iron-fist rule, distinguished with genocides against natives, an eight-year war against neighboring Iran and a seven-month occupation of Kuwait.
Fearing reprisals, the authorities enforced extraordinary security precautions in the capital and several cities and towns including Al-Ramadi, the provincial city of the governorate of Al-Anbar, a hotbed for Baath activists. Government representatives urged the natives in Al-Ramadi to refrain from driving cars during the day.
The authorities have also imposed special security precautions in Tikrit, the hometown of the executed dictator.
The execution of Saddam followed conflicting reports as to the exact date of the execution, and a marathon trial that ended with his conviction, along with his two aides, for committing genocides against natives of the village of Al-Dujail and thousands of Kurds during his rule.

Did these dim wits ever get this Iraq thing?
No one liked this guy. He had a few friends. Those few he killed.
They are being made as we speak.
They will show up on YouTube.
I don't think the Iraqi government has released any photos or videos yet. The longer they dither the weaker they look.
Reportedly the last words the executioner told Saddam were, "Saddam I have some good news for you. I just saved a bundle on my car insurance by switching to GEICO."
bttt
Iraqi Kurds in Sweden celebrating.
Swedish MSM gnashing their teeth, pulling hair. "Barbaric, will feed violence, an inhuman punishment" etc, etc. Vile creatures....
It doesn't matter. The important thing is that justice was done.
Weak is right --- I am starting to think they're afraid of the street's reaction/retaliation.
*sigh* I want to see the real deal.
