Pelosi isn't speaker until January. I know...someone else asked me whether or not Pelosi was there. Check the post.
And you are right - the new congress has not yet convened. Technically the Congress is adjourned "sine die" (sp), so I would think that the leadership at the time of recess would be recognized.

There is just something proper about Hastert still being the Speaker to give President Ford an official eulogy -- beautiful tributes by both him and VP Cheney.
