You're right...I was being flippant.

Too many people think that it was a time of nothing but drugs and free love. That lifestyle was in the minority; but they got all of the press time.

My dad would have killed me, and my mom would have cried.

The surviving baby-boomers are the ones who weren't stoned. The stoned ones are dead.

Or elected. Oh, come on. Are you gonna tell me that Hillary or, for that matter, W never hit the bong? Al Gore and Newt Gingrich have admitted to smoking weed. Neither has admitted to enjoying it. Pretty much every Baby Boomer pol has copped to toking on a J at least once.

I'd bet that even Condi Rice had the occasional wild moment of undergrad abandon. Well, maybe not, but I'm enjoying the mental picture of Condi smoking up while playing some Scott Joplin on a poorly-tuned dorm piano. Naughty librarians with sharp minds and fast hands ... well, I'll just leave it there.

Now I might be naive about this, but I actually believe that Bill Clinton didn't inhale. Here's how I picture it: Someone passed him the bong, He tried to take a hit to fit in. He coughed into the bong, shot the bowl across the room, and spewed bongwater all over the carpet. If you every had a stoner college roommate, you know that's a funk that never comes out.

After that, no one offered the bong again. Clinton was such an irredeemable dork that he had to get elected president in order to ever get laid again. It worked for him, as far as that goes.

That is quite a few people. I guess people went to funerals more back then. I would imagine that everyone got the day off that day regardless of what the job was.

I really think he cares more than she does. I bet she tried to think of a way to get out of it. I don't even want to see her during the three day funeral of Bill. We will all have to watch her for THREE DAYS! And be respectfuly to boot! Life is good isn't it...lol.

I think I replace Jimmy Carter with Bill CLinton on my 2007 dead pool

I am going with Mrs. Lady Bird Johnson Johnson and I really worry about Mrs. Barabra Bush. I can't put a finger on it, but just a feeling. Also, where was Nancy Reagan???? Why didn't she attend? Was it to much bad blood between President Ford and her husband. I bet he would have attended if he could. He does not pay a grudge. I guess sending Ron Reagan was the representative.

Nope. They're business owners, retired technicians, and just about every tenured college professor.

Also, where was Nancy Reagan???? Why didn't she attend?

She was there, hiding behind huge Hollywood sunglasses, sitting at Mrs. Carter's immediate left. I was saddened when Tom Brokaw called out the names of all the presidential couples sitting there and omitted mentioning Mrs. Reagan at all.

BTW, I also loved the lines in Henry Kissinger's eulogy where he said that Gerald Ford did not spend his retirement "obsessing about his place in history." What a kick in the nuts to ol' Bubbas Klintoon and Kahtah sitting right there within a few feet.
