I remember, in watching the funeral proceedings, Ford being extolled for having signed a presidential order, allowing women into the military acadamies. Great achievement. Wonder if anyone thought to ask him what he thought was the overall purpose of America's military. Seems like his views were not too far from Carter's and Clinton's.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned that yesterday, Susan and her brother, Michael, stood for hours to shake the hand and "thank" each mourner who came by to pay respects to their father.

This was profound.

Mo1, why don't you have the mods label this the live thread? No one else has posted one, so it looks like this is it.

I'm stuck with the networks until Fox local switches to FNC, maybe at 10 a.m. On ABC, they showed the cathedral--nice to see Nancy Reagan. Mr. & Mrs. Slick looked to be chatting with Jimmah?(thought he was a no-show)

GHW and Barbara just arrived; Jimmah, Ros, Bill & Hill went to greet them. Hill and Jimmah were chatting up a storm, as are Condi & Chelsea who are seated together. Is this the live funeral thread?

Hate to say it. That organ music at the end sounds like haunted house music.

The thought occurs that Mrs. Cheney's grasp of America's founding principles and ideas, her ability to articulate them, combined with her tenacity, make her uniquely qualified to lead.

Is there a draft petition out there anywhere?

Gerald R. Ford leaves his beloved U.S.

Whether it is agreed or not the U.S. was loved by him and he did what he thought was right. I am appalled that some politicians failed to pay proper respects for what seems to be partisan reasons. That is a slap in the face of every American and every Republican American in particular. That makes me sick.
