And where were her parents? Why wasn't she out on bail the next day?

$500K bond... maybe her folks didn't have $50K to put down to get her out with a bondsman... Just a guess.

Her parents lived in California while she went to College in the Phila region , if IIRC it took them a couple of days to get out to her and were never able to come up with the half million dollar bail.
