Washington (AFP): Four top former US foreign policy officials, including ex-secretaries of state Henry Kissinger and George Shultz, called for a world free of nuclear weapons in an opinion piece Thursday. I wish the world was a such a nice place but it isn't, never has been, and never will be.

The nuclear genie is out of the bottle and the only way to prevent nuclear war is to have enough firepower to ensure any potential enemy would be turned to dust if they attack us.

Henry Kissinger: 83 years old
George Shultz: 87 years old
William Perry: 79 years old
Sam Nunn: 68 years old

All (save maybe Nunn) too old to probably see the disastrous outcome of such folly. All apparently ignorant of reality, or history, or physics.

I'm sure on some planet their viewpoint is impressive, but their weak link is: this is Earth.

I'm going to form a Policy Study Commission Think Thank and issue a White Paper calling for every human being on the planet over the age of 18 to have a raging, screaming, fly to the ceiling orgasm every single day.

Our next White Paper will call for all the children of the world to sing in perfect harmony two Sundays a month.

Those papers will have exactly as much effect as the one issued by these clowns.

"What's wrong with Schultz?"

Got old I guess.

In his time, he was a great SoS so I cut him some slack now.

I think it's a great idea. All they need do now is talk otehrs around the world into it and account for very ounce of nuclear material missing from Russia.

A great idea that has a snowballs chance in hell of ever succeeding.

Great idea. Surrender our technological advantage so we can face 1.2 billion Chinese and 1 billion Muslims mano-a-mano.

What is wrong with these people?

It'll be all regulated (and this has been planned in 1962 in a State Dpt report Blueprint for Peace & Freedom From War: The United States Program for General and Complete Disarmament in a Peaceful World) by the United Nations!

On April 18, 1962, the Kennedy administration reiterated its commitment to a UN monopoly on weaponry by submitting, to a UN disarmament committee in Geneva, a formal treaty proposal entitled Blueprint for the Peace Race: Outline of Basic Provisions of a Treaty on General and Complete Disarmament in a Peaceful World. This document, which comports with the earlier Freedom From War plan, remains to this day the acknowledged blueprint for U.S. arms control policy. It unequivocally states that the UN "Peace Force" would be progressively strengthened "until it had sufficient armed forces and armaments so that no state could challenge it."

Freedom From War states:

In Stage III progressive controlled disarmament ... would proceed to a point where no state would have the military power to challenge the progressively strengthened U.N. Peace Force....

The manufacture of armaments would be prohibited except for those agreed types and quantities to be used by the U.N. Peace Force and those required to maintain internal order. All other armaments would be destroyed or converted to peaceful purposes.
