I was beginning to wonder if Ohlmert had it in him. Hopefully nukes don't have to be used, but something will have to be done if Iran continues on its present course.

With Olmert and Peretz in charge, I'm not sure if this is a very good idea. They'd probably end up dropping nukes on Jewish settlers instead of the Iranian nuclear sites. Or who knows what else they could screw up?

The recent Israeli attack against Lebanon was the worst planned and worst executed military operation in Israeli history. If anyone can screw things up, it's Olmert, Peretz & Co. Just imagine if Jimmy Carter had used nukes in his rescue operation in Iran, and you get the picture.

The Sunday Times should be online in about an hour's time. Drudge has put this as his main headline in bold red print, so I'd imagine it's going to the paper's cover story.

"Of course they have plans. The Pentagon has plans. That is what the military does, prepare contingency plans."

Beat me to it. Israel also has 'plans' to nuke every Arab capital (in case they're nuked first). We have 'plans' to nuke China.

Give me a break. As if Olmert would have the cojones, given the predictable international political firestorm it would set off.

Israel needs someone like the old Arik Sharon - sadly none is to be found.

I have come to think that Netanyahu is nothing but a 'poser' despite his rhetoric......

About as secret now as Monica Lewinsky was.

Would have been much better had Drudge reported that the attack was a success, with his flasing siren and all. This could queer the deal, especially with the current Israeli leadership.

I would think this is more like the beginning of an 'all-in' round at the poker table.

The Israelis just moved a whole lot of chips to the center of the table.

This should cause the non-serious players to fold (like the EU), although the withdrawal may be accompanied by a lot of hysterics.

We'll see who remains seated at the table.

If this is true and, at the present we don't know for sure, I would suggest all who are reading this post reply. Stock up on food items for the next several months, enough to sustain a family for several mos.

As sure as Iran is attacked they will block the oil supplies.
Better now than later, it's a job that will have to be done but, I don't think Israel can do it alone, too much air space.

If the article had read, Israel and, America were doing a joint venture, I would put some stock into it.

This may have been leaked to the Times by Israel themselves to give Iran a wake up call on just how serious they are.

As for a surprise, Iran cannot defend a huge enrichment complex against a nuclear weapon, it doesn't matter if they know it's coming or not - the result is going to be the same.

No

The Iranian leadership does not think like this. They are true believers. Islamofascists don't believe the United States or Israel have the courage to fight an all out war. They already know the Europeans do not. Therefore they believe they will inherit the earth by being more willing to take casualties than we are to inflict them.

Call it a game of Chicken. They do not believe anyone is willing to inflict millions of casualties to stop them from developing nuclear weapons.

Of course they have drawn up such plans. Every country with any military, nuclear capable or not, has plans drawn up to attack any potential enemy.

This is not news.

PS, of course they are secret. Idiotic MSM

You are wishing for a nuclear war? Praying for it? Iran's nuclear facilities are distributed, hidden, and buried deep. Nothing short of a full scale invasion and an occupation lasting some months could comprehensively destroy the bulk of them. The only other way to stop Iran getting nukes would be to lay waste the cities, killing the people who work in the facilities and destroying the industrial base that makes that work possible. Killing, into the bargain, hundreds of thousands if not millions of civilians who didn't {actually} vote for Ahmadinejad.

Even so-called tactical nukes would kill tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of civilians, all that without even setting back Iran's nuclear program that much.

Considering the cost to Iran of launching a first strike, isn't it more likely that even if Iran does get nukes, it will follow the lead of all other nuclear powers and keep the bombs as insurance?

I would suggest we all stock up on champagne and our other favorite beverages for the celebrations when a Western power finally grows the b@lls to stand up to a Muzzie country. I've heard that a nuke can be exploded in the upper atmosphere over a region and knock out all electronics within a large radius. This should be an alternate option if they don't want to actually nuke the facilities directly. The Muzzies behave like they're still in the dark ages, let them live it for real. No phones, no computers, no electrical ... anything. Or just turn them to nothing. That's okay, too.
