There is now a Defense Fund established for the Haditha Marines. To aid the civilian defense of the eight accused, send donations to:
Marine Iraq Legal Defense Fund, Inc.
c/o Judge Victor Ramirez
P.O. Box 1255
Solana Beach, CA 92075
Your donation can be earmarked to one of the accused or to all of the Haditha Marines who stand trial. Write your preference on the memo line of the check.
Interested Freepers can help publicize this fund. Obviously, it's a fund in name only at the moment. We need to get the word out, particularly within the Marines' local communities, that the fund exists. We will use this thread on an ongoing basis for provide information and ways that people can get involved. Ideas are welcome.
Also, Southern California Freepers please take note! The fund administrators will have a meeting in Carlsbad, California in the evening of January, 9th. I was invited to attend, but cannot. If anyone could be on hand to get directly involved, please let me know. The administrators of the Defense Fund only want to facilitate a fair trial.
Finally, I'm in this until the end: for the bitter or sweet. There's a strong possibility that one of the eight accused could cop a plea. That won't change my dedication to this cause.
The way I see it is this. The media, politicians, and the government lawyers are all demanding convictions to "send a message". The media hates the war. The Rats hate President Bush. Military lawyers want greater control over men in combat. The eight accused are caught up in these power games and have precious little on their side. I hope you'll consider helping.
Pinging you to this development.
It's beautiful...thanks for your work!
You have been busy...I see it is on the "Defend" page.
Let me go get my pen!

I'm glad you're a girl because I want to kiss you! Great stuff, pink!
#4 post to you.
LOL, Hopefully that helps!
Finally, I'm in this until the end: for the bitter or sweet
In case you couldn't tell...I'm in.

Michael SAvage has been raising money and defending them for months, but then many freepers hate Michael Savage.

Not me. I love anybody who speaks out for the Marines. And you're right about Savage, of course. He helped raise a good deal of money for the Pendleton 8. I hope he or someone else will come onboard for the Haditha Marines.
Great job, Red. Thanks for your hard work.

Will do.

Pleasure, jaz. And lily was tireless at working the phones and e-mail
Whatever! I am in my happy place. :)
Thank you for all your hard work also, Lily. It is appreciated.
Love this! Thanks for posting it.
Thanks for welcoming me and I like your homepage..:)
Thought you might be interested!
The PTB are doing everything to get this case wrapped up before it goes to court. The pressure on the eight for a plea bargain must be enormous.
Thanks got it.
Lily! thats a great idea!

A fun run would be a great fund raiser. I have to test the waters of area support and get the "how to". Any other suggestions?
Right now I am working the computer to see if I can get the announcement posted in as many Military settings as possible. (Blackfive and some others).
I am not sure what I can do here like a run, I am in da boonies... and its winter here... Maybe something at church...(still thinking..)
Thank you both for your work on this. Will get my checkbook out to donate.
They should go after the "leakers" in this case. It is not right that people are giving unauthorized information out.
As said above, I'm expecting we'll soon hear that someone will soon cop a plea. I believe the first will be Dela Cruz based on all the details we're seeing today in the media.
At the moment, there's a little public attention in favor of the Marines. Wait and see how that crumbles when one of the Marines cops a plea. I'm trying to prepare for that. Things are going to get a lot tougher.
Yes, they should! What I can't figure out is why they feel the need to leak at all? What is it that they hope to accomplish?
You may be right Red.
Still I don't understand why they are leaking the information they are. I guess I am not sneaky enough!
Thanks, Red. I fear you may be right.
Don't let the leaks get to you, panther, there's been many since Murtha's despicable performance.
I can't figure out why these people/organizations feel the need to leak anything regarding this war. Where is the integrity of these people?
Jaz, Thanks, I am back to working those emails now. :)
Ya you guys have been pounding the pavement here longer than I, guess I am gonna have to get used to this. Looks like its gonna be a long haul.
I think there are leaks because the leakers believe it desensitizes the public and sells the "killer" image that needs to be sold in order to convict our heroes. Later, when the story is put into the context of the true and complete story, the damage is already done. Most MSM people hate our military so much they jump all over the leaks and revel in the story they are helping to create. It is a bunch of crap, most people know that this is war and our marines aren't criminals. They are doing their job, period. Judge Ramirez has a heart for our marines. I'm going to contribute. These marines have laid their lives on the line for me, its the LEAST I can do.
God bless George and Andy Terrazas.
When I was talking to a defense fund lawyer, he said their whole effort for the Pendleton 8 pretty much collapsed when Jodka copped a plea. Lily was told the same thing. If a Marine cops a plea in this case, it's better if it doesn't come as a tremendous shock.
Thanks, Flyer. There's a lot of truth in what you say and these Marines deserve our support to help them get the defense they deserve.
They did lay their lives on the line for us and we have to back them now.
Marine officials have accused the troops of failing to identify their targets before using grenades and guns to kill 14 unarmed people in the houses, including several young children in their pajamas, in a span of about 10 minutes, according to the documents.
Pretend that is italics
I will come back and attempt to paste from post 580 when they stated it took 3 hrs
December 30, 2006
A unit of Camp Pendleton Marines used automatic weapons, a pistol and a grenade to kill 24 civilians over three hours, then tried to tie all the deaths to combat action.
Pretend you see italics again for my cut and paste...
Now why the big time change?
I feel so little for so much on their part.
