Some of the other leading Democrats in Congress aren't ready to echo House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's suggestion that lawmakers might hold up funding for additional troops in Iraq.
On CBS's ''Face the Nation'' today, Pelosi said Democrats won't cut off money for those troops already in Iraq -- but that President Bush would have to ''justify any additional resources.'' The comment comes as Bush puts the finishing touches on a plan that could put thousands of additional U.S. troops in Iraq in an effort to stem the sectarian violence.
But Pelosi's second-in-command in the House Democratic leadership, Steny Hoyer, told Fox News he doesn't ''want to anticipate'' that possibility. And the Democrat who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Joe Biden, says Congress doesn't have the power to second-guess Bush's military strategy -- because lawmakers had voted to authorize him to wage war. Biden appeared on NBC's ''Meet the Press.''
The Senate's top Republican, Mitch McConnell, agreed, telling Fox News that Congress can't ''micro-manage'' the tactics in Iraq.
When asked about Pelosi's remarks, a White House spokesman said Bush welcomes any ideas on Iraq that ''lead to success.''

If I were against the war you can be damned sure I'd have solid reasons for that, and would proudly step up to any camera and state my reasoning, and call on my House leader to make an issue of what should be my party's position.
All those who call the Republicans wimps should look at this sorry bunch of Instapol/Dynapoll/Ultrapoll watchers.
Maybe the Democrats will screw up so badly during the next year that they will lose any chance of gaining the Whitehouse AND they will lose Congressional seats in 2008.
Nice tagline.
It is time to help them screw up. Get dirt on all...
She is just trying to have a get even agenda.
This is why she is going to fail and look stupid with her mistakes.
Looks like this will be another mistake to b only one of many, many more to come.
The get even agenda will never work because each elected offical only care about themselves, not to get even.
Should Pelosi win this Battle, even Democrats know they lose the War. (The political war, mind you. They love to bath in the soldiers blood in real wars.)
In case anybody's interested .. the dems cannot do anything about the President sending 20,000 more troops to Iraq. He's the Commander in Chief - and he doesn't have to ask Congress for anything to send troops anywhere.
While the Queen may try to stop funding .. she will not find a consensus on that issue - so she's dead in the water. This is a grandstand by the Queen for the sole purpose of 2008.
And .. while the Queen has said that she would only support the troops but not an "escalation" of the war - then she is saying she is agreeing with the President's previous stand which was "stay the course" - only she was against that for months and months. The dems don't know what they want - but they are AGAINST anything Bush wants to do - irregardless of whether it's good for America or not.
