Israel and China to sign new bilateral treaties

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is due to sign several bilateral treaties at a meeting with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on the second day of his three-day visit to Beijing.

Before the meeting and the official signing ceremony at the Great Hall of the People, Olmert toured China's famous Great Wall just outside the Chinese capital.

This trip has less to do with weapons than it does with one of Olmert's pet projects, promoting the sale of water purification technology across the globe to marginally productive grassland areas. R&D at Ben Gurion University/Arava Institute and manufacturing of the irrigation systems in southern desert manafacturing parks to try to increase economic activity in the south.
