I heard that 20 F-117's have come, while at most 15 of them came previously. On top of this, there will be RSOI exercise starting sometime in March, which will draw in a large number of U.S. troops.
Chia Head will probably set off his 2nd nuke in Feb. or Apr.. Lots of action ahead in Korean Peninsula.

It should be noted that the F-117 isn't reallt a 'Fighter'. It's a bomber.

I wonder how long it will be before the North is going to say that this is an act of war...

I haven't checked, but it would not surprise me if they have said it already. They are pretty quick on such a thing.:-)

North Korea's state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Sunday that the United States' decision to place stealth fighter-bombers undetectable by radar in South Korea is a dangerous sign that indicates a prelude to war. The KCNA reported that the United States had decided to deploy fifteen F-117 stealth fighter-bombers to South Korea in late May, and said that it was obviously a dangerous sign that foretells the outbreak of a war. An official at the U.S. Forces in Korea said last Thursday that the deployment of stealth bomber to South Korea was part of a continuing rotation of forces to get airmen acquainted with the geography of the Korean Peninsula and operational plans, the North Korean news agency reported. The KCNA emphasized that it was the fifth time since 1993 that the United States had deployed stealth bombers to South Korea.

Aren't F117's usually sent in ahead of other air units because their stealth capabilities allows them to knock out SAM sites and such? I believe they were heavily used in that capacity in the Iraq conflict(s).
Might want to save a few back for use in Iran ...

It should be noted that the F-117 isn't reallt a 'Fighter'. It's a bomber.
the F-117 operates (by far) most effectively as a bomber, but it was the product of Have Blue- the intent of which was to produce a fighter, not a bomber. Thus the F- designation. Or at least that's what I seem to recall.

We were also told that they are going to retire the F-117.
Perhaps not this year.

Thanks, that's also my understanding, va. Just wanted to point out, esp since it was a translation, that we are sending ground attack ac, not dogfighters. ;>)
Rumor is also that they used (or kept) the 'F' desig as a bit of misdirection.

Interestingly enough, the F-22s from Langley will be deployed to Kadena AFB in Okinawa for the next few months. Combine that with the F-117 deployment....could be coincidence....or not......

F-117 isn't reallt a 'Fighter'. It's a bomber. It can carry a whole two bombs. But those can be 2,000 pounders.
It should properly have been the A-19. "A" for "attack", not "B" for bomber.
