Harvard law professor and lawyer Alan Dershowitz has labeled former President Jimmy Carter a coward for refusing to debate him over Carter's controversial new book.
Carter will visit Brandeis University to discuss his book on Palestine but won't debate academic Dershowitz as originally proposed.
Will You Read Book?
"It's the height of cowardice," said Dershowitz. "He released this book saying he wanted to spark a debate and now he refuses to do just that."
In an opinion piece in the Boston Globe Dershowitz also called Carter a "hypocrite" for telling Brandies officials he would not debate Dershowitz.
He also wrote, "Jimmy Carter isn't brave for beating up on Israel. He's a bully."
A Carter spokeswoman and university officials say Carter will speak for about 15 minutes and then answer questions for 45 minutes during the visit, tentatively scheduled for January 23.
Some students and faculty had objected when the speaking invitation to Carter, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, suggested the debate with Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor who has disparaged the book "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid." They said Carter should be invited to campus without conditions.
Carter spokeswoman Deanna Congileo said Carter looks forward to the opportunity to having a dialogue with everyone at Brandeis. She said Carter has set no conditions and would answer as many questions as possible.
Congileo said the visit to the campus at the Waltham, Massachusetts campus of Brandeis will be Carter's first to a university to discuss the book.
Brandeis is a nonsectarian university founded by the American Jewish community. About half its students are Jewish.
That's a wonderful idea. Somebody on this list mush know somebody who goes to Brandeis.
BTW, Pace University did a similiar star of David holocaust memorial last year, but people also had the option of wearing pink triangles, because being gay is the same thing as being Jewish, right?
It should be of no surprise that Weakling Carter snivels away from a debate on a subject, even though he (allegedly) "wrote the book".
Also, even though Mister Dershowitz says a few things with which I coincidentally agree, overall he is no less of a rodent in my eyes.
.
Ironically "Palestine", like most of the Arab world, is a classic example of apartheid. They opress Christians and don't allow Jews at all. A condition of turning Gaza over to a million plus Muslims, 8,000 Jews had to be expelled, along with 10% of Gaza's GDP, to satisfy their desire for religious purity.
What's the matter with me...I've been agreement with Dershowitz on at least two occasions, including this, in the last year.
Under Peanutbrain, the "misery index", defined as the sum of the unemployment rate and the rate of inflation, was over 21%. The socialist "ideas" of the current DemoSocialist "leaders" in Congress would return us to mortgage rates in the teens, high unemployment, high inflation, and a severely weakened national defense, replicating the Carter Years.
"It's the height of cowardice," said Dershowitz. "He released this book saying he wanted to spark a debate and now he refuses to do just that."
And in a related story, water is found to be wet.........
"Coward, hypocrite, bully", sounds like the character of the typical Democrat
Yep, I love that 'The Donald' took shim on. Finally shim stepped on some rather big toes and Trump didn't let shim get away with it.
Wouldn't have the desired effect. Most important is the selection of the audience, and particularly the questioners. I wouldn't assume he'll get anything other that softballs, critical questions could come from the uninformed. Carter knows how to manage a Q&A session.
I disagree with him on his pro-choice stance, but I agree with him that Roe was an awful decision.
His positions tend to be well thought out.
Most of us were using far worse (and accurate) terms for this idiot when he was mistakenly elected president.
I will he would tell us what he really thinks
will = wish
Dersh tells it like it is!!!
Of course most were democrats.
Add to that doddering, senile old fool.
