Boy! Those Swedes sure are tough on child molesters! What did the defendants argue? That by putting them in jail the judge was, in effect, orphaning their children? Sounds like Vermont.

This is from a country where legitimate spanking of your kids is illegal, and parents who exercise that option are likely to be charged with child abuse.

----but seriously folks, this is disgusting. The death penalty for this man AND woman just MIGHT deter these things in the future. But even if it didn't , the punishment would be a "good fit". Why, oh why did the so called civilized world ever let itself be turned away from the entire concept of "punishment", REAL punishment like the death penalty. As it stands , there as much as here, though, receiving the death penalty merely means more time spent in jail, as much as 25 years, at OUR expense. A more effective punishment might be to return to the 2-300 year old practice of being put in stocks and pillories in the public square and have your peers spit on you every day.
Then EVERYONE would know your name, and the humiliation would be overwhelming---just keep your fingers crossed that it's not a masochists in those stocks, because THAT
would create a new kind of recidivism.
